Book Description

21 Sep 2009
"A real life corporate thriller."

John Newton, put his years of experience as a policeman and broadcaster to the test when asked to interview Vance Miller. A man who has been pilloried in the media as a rogue trader, kidnapper, diamond and gold smuggler. Yet the truth revealed is far more complex, because Vance is also an amazingly successful entrepreneur, who has built up what is rapidly becoming the largest kitchen supplier in the UK. This has been achieved by acquiring entire oak forests in Mongolia, granite quarries and factory complexes throughout China. Put in to the mix two arson attacks on his private home, police raids and armed robberies at his offices, a vicious break-in at his mother's home and the destruction by fire of fifty percent of his premises and stock, plus fighting the determination of persons in the local authorities to force him out of business in order to acquire his property for a major private development in the centre of Oldham and we have a real-life corporate thriller.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nobel Peace Prize Next? 10 Mar 2014
Vance is indeed a living legend. This book is a consistent part of a story which you can complete by googling his name. A story supported by so many in so few phrases. Look a bit deeper and a different story takes root. A good start is here: [...]

Which to believe? Well we know which one Vance wants to push with this book. Those of us who have been subject to his pushing know the real answer. File under fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Defo in my top 10 books ever 31 Dec 2010
This book is totally unputdownable. I read it in a day, then i read it again. Within a few pages you are hooked, this Vance Miller is some piece of work. I have nothing but utter respect for anyone who can do what Vance Miller has done, he is one man.Not some big corporation of suits and yes men. hes done it on his own, good on ya Vance. He has taken the world by storm with his can-do attitude. Vance Miller for Prime Minister, i kid you not the country would be in a better shape with more people like him. A good role model for the youth of today. Give it a go you wont be disapointed- i promise

5.0 out of 5 stars What an inspiration 27 Feb 2011
By Johnny
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this book hoping to find that Vance Miller is a different person to whom I thought he was. And that's exactly what happened. It's naturally hard to believe at first that Vance is the victim of a conspiracy to oust him from Maple Mill in order that the Council can regenerate the area, but the author more or less proves that that is the case. Vance's style is different to that of the average businessman to say the least, but it has worked for him and made him a complete success story even though it doesn't appear to have made him very rich as far as his lifestyle is concerned. As the owner of a small business I often find myself under stress and in sticky financial situations. But having read this book I feel that I can overcome anything that life throws at me. A truly inspirational story.
