STOP! Before you buy this I would strongly recommend that you consider "Le Cordon Bleu's Complete Cooking Techniques: The Indispensable Reference Demonstates Over 700 Illustrated Techniques with 2,000 Photos and 200 Recipe". I made the mistake of buying these books together only to discover that one was almost a page-for-page copy of the other. If you are looking for something basic then go right ahead and buy the book on this page. The other book I have recommended provides a better, more detailed guide to certain kitchen techniques. Neither are fantastic though and I would really avoid them if you are looking for a decent guide to kithen cooking techniques. Don't expect any tips on how to stock your kitchen with cooking utensils, or how to get the most out of your knives etc. There are some good recipes and techniques, but as an amateur, I found these books lacking.

The book is actually a bad copy of the original book released by Le cordon Bleu years ago ( 80's ) which some greedy publisher made 3 books from it with only different cover and tittle ( available on this site ) have been given a Amazon voucher for birthday thought could give myself few cooking books, order them thinking would be something different!!! ( got a combo price packet offer from this site !! thought what a bargain !! ) to realised, not only had 3 books delivered with exactly same contain, same words and pictures. only different covers and for my surprise the original has not been update at all ( I still have my 80s copy ) I know we still apply some of same old techniques but time has pass and few things found on those books no longer are appealing and way far old fashion !! Been cooking since 1988 can say I know a few things about cooking. what makes me sad above all is "Le cordon Bleu" seal is on them! do they know that !??! I 've returned my "new" copies back ! publisher at least get someone reviewing and updating the "new" book before glueing new cover on the them !! good shopping !!!
