Product Description

Two-part comedy drama set in a Glasgow kitchen full of lust, power and money . A lairy youth with a flair for food narrowly escapes a jail sentence by serving a community order working as commis chef in the kitchen of a top Glasgow restaurant. Danny, (James Young), the probation case is a troubled kid with real culinary promise and if he can last the pace with head chef Nick (Edie Izzard), he'll be en route to a career other than crime. However his probation officer George (Frank Gallagher) is a monkey never off his back - willing him to fail. To make matters even worse, George's salacious wife Grace is offering tempting hors d'oeuvres on a plate for Danny and he's thinking about a nibble. The head chef Nick is an authoritarian kitchen-commandant - a former hotshot whose star is now truly on the wane though he'll go down swinging and trading on the name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot and gripping 1 Mar 2007

Fantastic piece of work from all the talent involved. Izzard was the bait to entice me to watch this gem, and he performs brilliantly, but I also loved the other cast members and the fact that it stared primarily Glasweigan accents made my day. Watch this and like me, you will keep wondering how the scally on probation is gonna get out of the sticky situations...

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful 8 Jun 2008
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
A friend of mine who I thought had good taste told me this was a really good film/programme so I decided to pay what I thought was an expensive price for this DVD.

After 15 minutes you realise that Eddie Izzard is not the main actor. The storyline is slow and weak, the acting is wooden and it just goes on and on.

Having seen Eddie Izzard do an incredible job in The Riches, I was extremely disappointed and bored while watching him in this low budget production.
