I had one which looked exactly the same as the photo and, when it arrived, I thought it would perform in exactly the same way. However, it doesn't because the blade which presses the food down on the metal sieve-like plate doesn't do it as effectively. I'm trying to work out why and I think the it's a combination of the spring being not forceful enough and the black metal disc underneath the blade being too thick.
Whatever - the pressure just isn't enough to push all the food through, resulting in quite a bit of wastage. I then have to take a wooden spoon and press more through by hand, which I never had to do with my last one.
The only reason I replaced the last one (which I'd had for around 30 years) was that the metal parts became rusty, whereas this one is made of stainless steel, so should last longer. However I'm not sure that I will hang on to it that long.
The basic design is one which I saw in France many, many years ago and it was called a mouli-legume. I would have thought that a tried and tested design would work fine as usual. I was wrong.
