I needed to make some jelly for a competition. Being relatively new to making jelly I needed to purchase a jelly bag. I wanted easy to use equipment that I could store in a small space after use. I looked at several options and the Kitchen Craft strainer seemed to be just what I needed. I made my jelly entered the competition and was delighted to get 18/20 marks. The strainer was easy to use and will be used on many future occasions.

Product went together easily (you only have to clip in the legs and feet) and then you can start. No complaints with the frame, but the strainer bag itself is rubbish. The very first time I used it (making rosehip syrup)one of the metal rings fell out of the material. Considering the cost of replacement bags, I will settle with buying cheap tea towels and throwing them away.

Also a little peeved with the ordering process, in that the system tells me the product can be purchased, but after I have gone through and paid for it, it then tells me I have to wait a little over a month for it to be in stock - why did it not tell me that the outset.

Just the ticket! All the years i've used my home-made precarious construction! If only I'd known about this one. Easy to assemble. Adjustable feet for width of bucket under. Easy to clean

I've just given this product its inauguration with a pile of damsons. The stand is such a step up from the upturned stool and bits of string I had previously used... It sits comfortably and quite stably on top of the receiving bowl and the whole thing fits tidily in the oven over night to allow the juice to flow without needing to shroud it to keep the flies out!! Very easy to assemble and use. I'm very pleased with it and as I have loads of damsons still to pick, it will be in constant use into the autumn. I would have given it 5* but as it cannot be disassembled, the stand will have to sit in the jam pan when not in use.

A great item. Holds a normal recipe amount, but not two. Quite large to store as the legs are not removeable once fiited in place. Makes jelly making much simpler!

arrived very promptly, and my husband had it assembled in minutes. At first I thought it looked a bit flimsy compared to the internet picture, but it clips on the bowl firmly.Easy to store as the legs just flip round to flatten it.I
also filled it to the brim with about 6lb or more of crabapples.I stand the bowl and attached strainer on a tray-no more mess!I thought the bag was poorly finished at the seams and that is why I starred it 4 and not 5,however it is very well done around the top with the metal rings that hook onto the frame. All in all I am delighted with it and would certainly reccomend it

Bought this as this year we wanted to make more jams from fruit we grow on the allotment and also the fruit we forage from the hedgerow.
Everything came in on time and in no time we set about our jam.
To set it up was so easy, washed the bag and filled with rosehip pulp, this would test the bag to see if the hairs from the hips would be strained, next morning we awoke to find a perfectly strained hair free liquid in the bowl.
The bag washes easy, the stand is stiff enough for the pulp and it can fold flat, although it is quite large when folded down.
I have since seen this item in a hobby store for twice the price! All in all we are pleased with this item for the cost.

    Kitchen Craft Jam Strainer Kit
My wife is an avid jam and jelly maker and needed a second Strainer kit to keep the `production line' going. I spotted this item on Amazon and whilst a bit sceptical, given the price (as the last kit she bought was about £16 for a slightly different design), I decided to buy it for her.

On the plus side, the kit is easy to assemble, but be warned, it is NOT designed to come apart again. You can do it, but I would advise against it, if you want it to last!! The kit is designed to collapse down to aid storage, so the fact you cannot easily disassemble it is not too much of an issue. Also it is fairly light, being made of plastic.

The approximate assembled size (ready to use) is 21 cm high by 25cm dia. The dia. will go up to about 30cm when you extend the base fittings for larger diameter bowls. We have got this to fit onto bowls of 22cm up to 32cm given that the legs are a little bit flexible and that the base fittings are adjustable.
When the legs are folded flat the unit is about 36cm square in size and about 3cm deep, aiding storage.
The straining bag seems to be of a reasonable quality, with 4 strong eyelets to fit over the restraining tabs at the top of the stand. The bag measures (when flat) 19cm high, by 26cm tapering to 14cm at the base.

In use, the strainer unit works well, but obviously being made of plastic, needs a bit of care in handling. As the bag does not hang down into the bowl below, by much at all, this does help in how much you can strain at a time. I suspect that the bags will not last too long, but as these need replacing fairly regularly anyway, that is not something to mark it down for. The unit is also easy to clean.
