The benefits of this separator are:
1. large size, 1.5 litres which can deal with large amounts of stock and family-sized gravy servings. I find the more usual size (which is around 0.5 litres or one pint) to be just too small.
2. made of plastic rather than toughened glass; the glass models might look more presentable than this one, but I've had two and all too soon they both bit the dust (or rather the bottom of the sink!)
3. the removable separator partition makes it a doddle to clean -- no messing around with little bottle brushes, you just take out the partition out of its grooves and use your normal washing-up brush or sponge.
It also comes with a mesh fitting for filtering out solids, and a lid.
I've had two of these now; after many years of use the first one developed a crack in the side and began to leak, a problem that happened shortly after we got a dishwasher ... maybe the extreme temperatures didn't suit it, though as I said it was very old. I always hand-wash the new one, and make sure to put some cold water in (to act as a buffer against thermal shock) before pouring in meat juices straight from the oven or hob ... because I really would hate to be without this kitchen implement!
