I purchased this at the same time as my panasonic breadmaker as it was recommended. For the purposes of keeping your bread it is adequate. Where it excels is in the supplied cutting guide which makes it so easy to get even slices from your loaf. For the money it is a must have item.
Edit after some use. The plastic slicing guide is far too weak and flimsy and the guide arms break off. You can stick them back with superglue but why should you have to at this price. Therefore, I can no longer recommend this product. A good idea but poorly designed. A cast metal guide would be much better.

This product is the best thing since "sliced bread"!!! :-) I purchased this along with a new Panasonic breadmaker. I also purchased an electric knife after having read that this was necessary in order to cut the fresh bread from a breadmaker. Well - I have sent the electric knife back. Not necessary when you have the guide supplied with the acrylic bread keeper. All you need to do is wait one or two hours while the bread cools down - pop it into the guide and use a regular bread knife to slice through your delicious bread. The acrylic keeper does an excellent job of keeping your bread. As a matter of fact my early attempts were quite "crusty" and leaving it in the bread keeper overnight resulted in a softer loaf. After the initial flurry of baking and eating and over eating, I have now created a routine of baking slicing bagging and freezing! One in the keeper and one in the freezer so we always have fresh homemade bread available-both regular and gluten-free. I am well impressed! I am even contemplating purchasing another one just to have it in case they ever decide [God forbid!] to discontinue manufacturing this item. Top marks!!

Bread keeper is really useful if you bake your own bread as it keeps it fresh and dirt free (usually achieved by the bag bought bread comes in. It expands nicely to encompass even the largest loaf and then contracts to take up less space as the loaf is used.

The slicer guide makes a huge difference as it gives you even slices like you get in pre-cut loaves from the store. My only gripe is that it has a plastic base that can be damaged by the bread knife. Shame the designers could not have used a mini chopping board for the base.

As I have not found as similar product that is better I would recommend this to a home baked bread enthusiast.

I wasn't too sure about this item at first but thought we'd give it a go as I am totally hopeless at cutting bread I've made with our bread maker ... it was always uneven and like door stops! I purchased it more for the slicing guide and used it for the first time last night. Finally, decent slices of bread! I thought it was well worth the money. I do agree the the bottom part would have been better if not plastic but I just cut carefully towards the bottom of the bread. Even my husband thought it was really good!

When I first saw this I thought it was a bit of a gimmick really, who needs a see through bread bin, and it has holes in it, surely it won't keep the bread fresh with holes in it as previous bread bins have been completely sealed off.

Well my answers are nope it's not a gimmick, I think a see-through bread bin is cool and yes it keeps the bread fresh even with holes in it.

First of all it fits both sizes of loaves I bake at home, but I have had to make sure I use a little less yeast than before as I have had a loaf that was a little too tall for it, but it's no bother to take a bit of yeast out to make sure the loaves fit in it height wise.

Secondly it does what it is supposed to do and that is keeping the loaves fresh for the few days the loaf lasts!

The holes seem to allow enough air in to keep the bread fresh but not to allow it to go hard or start to go off too quickly.

And the fact it is see-through is great as it means you get to see you home made bread all the time, and also means that you can't forget to make another loaf it you only have a small bit left - unlike previous bread bins I have had where the loaf is shut away and I forget how much is left!

The best bit is that once you start using the bread you can shrink down the holder and therefore it takes up less space - genius!

The slicer guide that comes with it is good although I don't use it as I've been slicing bread for years, sometimes I make a wonky slice but I'm pretty good at keeping it straight.

I'm not sure why some people seem to have problems with the sturdyness of the product as I think it's just a case of being careful with it.

We also bake our own bread and it is useful as a storage device, and the guide bit does make it less likely that you'll end up with a wonky loaf. As has been said before though, the base does eventually get damaged by knife strokes and I've also now mangaged to snap one of the guide things off. So great idea, but could have been sturdier given the price.
