This block allowed me to sharpen a £8 ASDA Santoku chef's knife to the level of a professional knife. I can now cut vegetables with precision and speed, just like those chefs you see on TV as I do have the skill but not the pocket to shell out for £100+ knives :)
Whoever cooks knows that the most important part of it is that the knife being used needs to be stable and SHARP... Stable the knife is, even surprised at how much for the cheap price I paid, but it wasn't sharp.
This stone did the job and I can now cut stuff like I'm using a pro knife. I'd recommend this product whether you're confident handling knives or not, simply because having a blunt knife is actually more dangerous than having a sharp one, as the possibility to slip it off the food and cut yourself is much bigger. The knife sharpening block is good value for money and recommended. Make sure you leave it for 3 minutes soaking under cold water before you sharpen your knives. Use the darker side first, then the lighted side to hone the knife.
Hope that helps and was informative :)
