The KS Sound Stand is a lightweight, portable speaker which provides surround sound either on the move or as a smart desktop stand.
Because he wanted his audiences to feel as though the orchestra was actually in the theatre with them, Walt Disney gave cinema-goers a completely new, immersive film-viewing experience by using surround sound in his 1940 film ‘Fantasia’. 70 years on and the KS Sound Stand, lets you watch films and listen to music in surround sound on your tablet or mobile.
Thanks to its twin dynamic Neodymium speakers and Sound Retrieval System (SRS) technology, you can rest assured that your media is being given the platform it deserves. With a number of advantages over conventional ceramic magnet speakers, Neo magnets increase efficiency as well as lowering distortion. Despite the fact that these speakers are lightweight, they have a high output, while SRS technology ensures great quality surround sound.
Originally invented by Arnold Klayman in the early 1980s, SRS technology applies head-related transfer functions to create an immersive 3D soundfield. Using only two speakers it widens the ‘sweet spot’ to create a more spacious sense of ambience, producing strong localisation cues for discrete instruments within an audio mix.
If you love watching films in surround sound, the Sound Stand is ideal for when you are away from home, especially considering your device can be positioned at a comfortable angle for either landscape or portrait viewing. So aside from lugging around four floor-to-ceiling speakers and a 42” plasma TV, the KS Sound Stand is the closest you’ll get to a home cinema system when you’re on-the-go.
The Sound Stand’s Neodymium speakers make it a lightweight speaker system which is extremely comfortable to carry, especially if you position the speaker above or below your device. What makes it even more portable, are its foldable wings which not only provide a stable desktop stand by holding your device firmly in place with adjustable clips, but also fold back so you can take the surround sound with you. So if you’re feeling inspired by the ‘Lunch Beats’ craze which caught on in Sweden after a group of 14 friends got together in 2012 to party to a 60-minute DJ set, you could even take the Sound Stand to work and have an hour-long rave during your lunch break. Although your work colleagues might not be so happy about that, unless of course they’re from Sweden.
Measuring just H 70 mm x W 185 mm x D 40 mm, not only is the Sound Stand compact, but it also has a built-in rechargeable battery to give you the freedom to take your music with you wherever you go. Lasting up to 4 hours, the battery takes just 2 to recharge by plugging the supplied USB cable into a laptop, USB mains charger or USB car charger, so you can spend less time waiting to hear your tunes and more time listening to them. The 3.5 mm jack and stereo cable also ensure easy connection to most portable audio devices, so you can have surround sound whether you’ve got an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, tablet or Smartphone.
We are craftspeople. We are musicians. We are KitSound and we all commit ourselves to achieving one shared goal: Bringing people closer to their music. By understanding music we stay true to its craft. Pure, rich, incredible sound. We settle for nothing less.
At KS, we believe your music deserves to be listened to on great quality products that don’t cost the earth. We might not all share the same taste in music (the ferocious disputes on music forums prove that), but whether it’s Irish folk, death metal or any number of obscure genres which seem to be multiplying by the minute, the artists responsible for connecting with you through their craft have bared their souls to do so, and we think that’s worth celebrating.
