This is a small unit, shaped like a USB flash drive. I comes in a plastic bag with the CD-Rom containing the software and a brief written instruction sheet. Set up of the software was a breeze- 2 minutes at most.
The unit accepts the SIM card slotted into one side of it. I followed the diagram in the printed instructions, got it wrong and found that if you do it the opposite way round to the diagram, it works fine. You then put the device into any available USB port. This brings up the software. Now here, there is a slight criticism-the instructions in the software are written in less than adequate English and take a second or two to figure out.
You can then back up your SIM to a file of your choosing on the PC, copy one SIM to another, write a saved file of SIM contents back to a SIM and other useful actions. Read and write speeds are impressive.
All-in-all, an effective piece of equipment at a very low price.

An excellent little device which saved me a lot of time and effort recently when I decided to change my mobile providor. I was able to copy all my sim contacts to my computer and then onto the new sim. It takes about a minute. In the past I have lost my phone and therefore all my contacts - if I lose my phone now at least I have a back up of my phonebook on my computer. Anyone with a phone and a computer should get one of these.

The reader is OK and does what it says but my problem with it was that it would not read the sim card even if put in the right way around. Then I found that if you placed a paper clip just under the front egde of the sim it would force down just enough on to the contacts to enable the system to register the card.It done the job and I was able to back up contacts and swap over to another sim.

Waste of money
The mini-CD with the software to operate the SIM reader was cracked , due to insufficient packaging, so I had to throw the whole thing away.

SIM reader
Good basic piece of kit. Software provided does what it says on the tin back up numbers and messages but more facilities would have been welcome.

Very disappointed
The card does not seem to be PC/SC or phoenix compliant. So if you want to use any of the tools for data recovery from a SIM card they won't work with this reader. Read more

waste of plastic
