Product Description

Product Description

Maggie Silver intends to put as much space as possible between herself and her family just as soon as her parent’s ruby wedding celebrations are over. She is fed up with their constant advice and her never-ending babysitting duties. There’s a great big world out there and she wants to see it before she settles for suburbia. Then Ruairi O’Connor turns up at the same time her sister-in-law goes into labor, and suddenly everything becomes a lot more complicated.

As for Ruairi, in a few weeks time he will be on the other side of the world, so now is not the time to fall in love, especially with Maggie. Until now he’s thought of her as little more than a child so why has he suddenly discovered she is very grown up indeed and the only thing he wants to do is kiss her.

More About the Author

In the 1980s Sheila Claydon wrote a number of romances under the pseudonym Anne Beverley, then life got in the way and before she knew it she had turned her back on the characters who were begging to be liberated from her imagination, and stopped writing.

Now she is back to writing fiction again and, considerably older and no longer shy, she writes under her own name. She loves to hear from readers and can be contacted at where her books are listed and she also writes a blog.

Born and educated on the south coast of England, Sheila has gradually moved northwards across the UK. At present she and her husband live on the northwest coast of England on a stunning stretch of unspoiled coastline where she finds walking a constant source of inspiration as well as a counterweight to the sedentary life of a writer.
Interspersed with her writing is a long and varied career in health, education and employment, which mostly involved working to improve standards and opportunities for children, people with disabilities, and older people. She likes to think she is a better writer because of those experiences, and also admits to basing some of her characters on people she has worked with in the past.

As a writer she has tutored creative writing groups and organized and run workshops. She is also a published prize-winning poet whose work can be found in several anthologies. Prior to moving north she also ran workshops for the UK's 'Poetry in Schools' programme, running 3-day events with pupils of all ages right across the educational spectrum.

Although family remains central to her life, she still finds the time to read, to write, and to travel. Many of the places she has visited feature in her books. Reading them is like buying a ticket to romance.

Her motto is this quote by author Ray Bradbury: 'First, find out what your hero wants. Then just follow him.'

She starts with plots, chapter outlines, characterisation; she knows all the rules and faithfully follows them each time she starts to write a new story. Then the hero takes over and she follows him instead...'

I love Sheila Claydon's novels. She never fails to deliver a page turning and heart warming romance. Whether you are looking for a beach read or you are curled up on the sofa with the fire on this story will hit the spot! Maggie is an endearing heroine and you will be guaranteed to fall a little but in love with Ruari (her leading man) yourself. With the added entertainment of kids and animals (penguins!) ...

I have never read from this author before but what a treat it was. The story was heartbreaking and beautiful, who doesn't remember their first love. The characters are very likeable and become even more so as they grow up. I really enjoyed this book.

Kissing Maggie Silver was a great book with a great story line. Maggie's family (the Silver's) are a close knit group with Maggie being the youngest and only girl. The story line between Maggie and her childhood crush Ruairi are what make this book so great... it was a touching and sweet reunion that brought them back into each others lives. You will be glad that you choose this book to read!

Oh, how I loved this story! When footloose Ruari, a documentary filmmaker, returns to England with his mom, he discovers Maggie Silver, the little sister of his closest childhood friends, is all grown up. Maggie has had a crush on Ruari most of her life and seeing him after all these years only rekindles those sparks. But with a family who expects Maggie to help out with crises and children at every turn, finding time alone to explore those burgeoning new feelings is almost impossible.
Author Sheila Claydon brings a lot of sexual tension to this Cinderella story about a woman who needs to find the courage to explore her own dreams and a man who learns, with her help, that home is where love resides.

Good plot, lots of anticipation. Enjoyed reading this story. The author did a great job of keeping the story real. It would have been too easy to have Ruairi take Maggie along on his upcoming trip solving her wanderlust desire. It was a worthwhile read.
