Book Description

Ivy and Tristan are meant to be together. Both stunningly attractive, brilliantly talented and very much in love, they think their happiness will last forever. When a terrible car accident shatters their world, killing Tristan and injuring Ivy, she must face life alone - or so she thinks. However, Tristan is watching over her as her guardian angel - so close she can feel his touch and hear his voice. And no one needs a guardian angel more than Ivy, because someone is trying to kill her. But if Tristan saves Ivy, his mission on earth will be finished, and he'll have to leave her behind. Will saving Ivy mean losing her forever? --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 7 July 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I thought that this book was wonderful. I often cried at the sad parts and the happy parts brought a smile to my face. I felt so bad when Tristan was trying to understand his new way of living. He found it hard to adjust to not being seen by people. Only people who believed in Angels could see Tristan. Tristan's main objective in the story was to warn his girlfriend that she was in great danger. But being that she no longer believed in angels since the accident it was a hard accomplishment. I thought that this book was well written because it was particially a romance and a murder and a suspence storey.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good supernatural romance 28 Aug 2009
By Jenny, Wondrous Reads TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as I thought I would. Several things irked me about the plot, and although there were brilliant elements to the story, I didn't think that it balanced out enough.

Ivy and Tristan's declaration of love was very rushed, and I felt that the intensity of their feelings for each other was quite unbelieveable. Had more time been spent on the characters getting to know each other, the relationship progression would have seemed a lot more natural and reasonable. Tristan's sickly sweet comments were too much sometimes, and I just wished he'd man up and grow a pair. Luckily, Ivy didn't hear most of his lovestruck ramblings, or she may have found herself getting over Tristan a lot quicker than she did.

The supporting friends and relatives were all well written, especially Ivy's brother Philip, who was without a doubt my favourite part of the book. I really hated Gregory, which, I hope, was the point. He was creepy and weird, and was well on his way to being arrested for stalking. I hoped Ivy would sense that something wasn't right with him a lot earlier than she did, and her lack of common sense frustrated me. Had her trusty angel Tristan not been on the scene to help her out, I have no idea what would have happened to her.

I loved the murder mystery element that was present throughout the book, and I had fun trying to guess how everything connected. The author successfully made me doubt several of the main characters, which I thought was a clever throw-you-off-the-scent way of testing loyalties and keeping the reader on their toes. Chandler had a good grasp on teenagers and their lifestyles, and really played on the all-consuming nature of first relationships.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever... 9 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I got this book because I love to read about teen romances, and I really didn't want to get it at first because it was so thick! But I realized that when I started to read it, I read the first 400 pages within 3 days of my vacation in Maine. It was such a good book. It was a book where you didn't know who to trust and what the person's reaction was going to be. This book was full of suspense and love. And I don't think that anyone has the right to make fun of it at all because I was explaining it to my friend, and she thought that the book was extremely corny talking about angels and stuff. But you have no right to do that unless you read it because your reaction to the book will be totally different

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book, Beautiful Cover. 14 April 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
** spoiler alert ** Absolutely amazed with this book. I've never been a fan of books written in the third person, but this one I enjoyed very much. Its full of mystery, angst, love, and loss.

Tristan is the hero in this story, becoming the guardian angel to his girlfrend Ivy after he dies in a tragic car accident that left him for dead and Ivy injured. He knows he was sent back for a reason, and that reason, is to help Ivy and save her from his killer who is now after her.

I devoured this book. A little predictable in some parts with regards to one of the characters, and it does all come to light in the end.

Although the Elizabeth Chandler doesn't quite state in character conversations what is being said aloud and what is being said in the mind you will soon pick up and guess what is said aloud and what is not, by that I mean the use of italics that other authors tend to do.

Other than that I would definitely reccommend this book to everyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars "Ghost" replagiarized , sorry, ....revisited. 17 July 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As mentionned in the title, the base of the story represents an everlasting love, very close to the one in "Ghost", where the guy gets killed in a car crash, but still after his death tries to save his girlfriend from potential and already existing danger. He communicates with her through people and objects surrounding her, trying to prove that an accident he dies in, was a well calculated crime.
Oh,the "Ghost" thing...
1.The guy dies, sees himself at the accident scene , he sees hospital , learns how to go right through the walls, touch and pick up things, etc, etc
2.He is there at the cemetery , watching a woman, waving to him( later she will end up being his "tutor" , the only difference, i guess)
3.Returning again to the fact that the heroine is in danger from her closest entourage, who she treats as reliable and always-protect-and-help friends (reminds you of Carl?).
4.Even heroine`s cat is able to see the main character
5.Protagonist is able to control some peoples` minds, which allows him to let the heroine know who and where he is,that he still loves her(of course) and he solves the crime too!

The most annoying part is that the time scale of the story is incredibly short - within a month after his death, the main character manages to complete his mission( that`s ok, i do not mind), but the heroine....her "everlasting love for him, her terrible nightmares, tears and sadness" are all over after this short period of time.In the end she is in love with someone else, she is cured. So much for true love that lasts forever....

I am not saying that this book should have been about 1000 pages describing the pain of loss, but what matters is
the way it is written...There is no debth, no real emotion or description that really touches.

I'd definitely recommend it. However, if you're not to keen on the overly romantic novels, I'd give it a miss.
