Book Description

I loved him.
I loathed him.

I knew he had secrets.
I knew he had darkness in him.

And yet I took all of him. Accepted all his ugly the way he embraced all of mine.

But sometimes loving someone isn't enough. Sometimes it breaks you apart and moulds you into somebody else entirely.

And sometimes the person you loved the most can be the one to hurt you worst of all.

WARNING:
Kiss a Stranger is a new adult/contemporary romance.
There is a whole lot of sex, and a whole lot of swearing. If that is not your cup of tea, then this is not for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story. 25 July 2014
By Yvonne
Format:Kindle Edition
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this story. There wasn't much of a description and I was in two minds about purchasing it, but I'm very glad that I did. I was also VERY thankful that this wasn't a BDSM novel, as I've made that mistake before when buying contemporary romance books, and I was a bit wary by the description/lack of description!
Without giving too much away....When we meet Claire she is a beautiful fun loving woman in her early twenties. She's a care free party girl who is a lot of fun but also very vain and gets around a bit. The next chapter is one year later and Claire is a shell of who she was before. The story explains why quite quickly and doesn't leave you guessing, which I liked. I thought that Claire was a very likeable character and easy to empathise with.
Ben, a man who Claire met a year ago, comes back into her life. Ben is a wealthy man who keeps his work and personal life completely separate and is very cagey about what he actually does. It's also implied that he is a dangerous man, however he doesn't show that side (apart from being a little possessive which I liked) to Claire.
The rest of the story is about their relationship when they are faced with a huge bump in the road. I enjoyed the suspense in the last part of the book and it had me guessing about what was going to happen/who to believe.
I was so pleased with the ending (no cliff hanger) and I look forward to reading the next in the series about Jamie (Ben's brother).

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad read 27 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to admit, this book was okay. But that was it for me unfortunately, it was very fast paced, in such a way I felt there wasn't enough time to begin to truly know the characters, and therefore I couldn't warm to them as I had hoped I would. It was all quite rushed which some people might like as there's no suspense, however personally suspense is a very important feature of a successful book. I never felt gripped by it, I knew what to expect and I was a little disappointed as I felt they story line really gave it potential to be a brilliant book. That being said, I was pleased that the author did incorporate realistic scenes into the book. It's refreshing to not read a book where the two main characters are together countless times in one day, experiencing the same old multiple orgasms that unrealistically seem to roll from one straight to another. So there was positives, for the price I was happy enough to read this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not easy to like the heroine 11 Aug. 2014
By Sue
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For some reason R J Lewis's heroes are more appealing than her heroines. Jaxon in 'Ignite' and 'Burn' carried the likeability factor far better than his lady love Sara - but at least Sara's 'anger issues' could be taken into account when they overwhelmed her and caused her to mistreat Jaxon.

Claire in this book and her friend Emily were shallow and quite nasty. The way they treated their fellow passengers on the bus for instance - shoving an old lady out of the way showed an unpleasant side to their characters. I can overlook their wildness - scouring the fair grounds for 'hot guys' to see how many contact numbers they could collect and their self-indulgent attitude - if this was meant to portray them as the products of their times, fine; but to shove an old lady out of their path - it wasn't attractive - just as Claire thinking it was acceptable to cut in on another woman's boyfriend was not attractive. The incident had then ended so badly for her when she was set upon by the man's girl and her friends. We were then expected to believe that it was an incident that had then turned Claire from a narcissistic and shallow girl into a 'nicer' one. I kept picturing her shoving the old lady on the bus - and I found it hard to like her.

I am also not a fan of protagonists who end up in bed on the very first meeting. A quick kiss that was instigated on a 'dare' several months ago did not mean that Claire 'knew' Ben well enough to take him into her bed. It was also foolhardy and dangerous for them to have sex without protection. Just because she was on birth control pills, it did not protect either of them from exposure to sexually transmitted diseases. After all, how much did either of them know about the other's sexual activities prior to their meeting again after almost a year?

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this book! Do not hesitate! 23 Jan. 2015
By Rachel
Format:Kindle Edition
Oh my God. This book was just simply beautiful. Everything about it, the characters, the style of writing just wow.
This book brought tears to my eyes. Claire's letter near the end being the culprit! I cannot praise this book enough, sure it's not the best written book in the world but it holds amazing qualities.
I'm sure I am not the only one who disliked Claire at the beginning, but she turned out to be a wonderful character. I also loved how the author portrayed her friendship with Emily, and how Emily held her as she cried, you will understand once you have read it, very heart warming stuff.
Yes I am diSappointed that we never discovered Ben's true occupation but I loved the book that much I'm willing to let it slide, although a follow up book would be great maybe from Ben's side so we can discover what he does for a living.
Also the story line was really well thought of and different. I loved it, thank you for a great book!

I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen in this story. It was so obvious that Ben loved Claire, but my heart stopped for a bit when the twist hit. A lovely read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice twist
I enjoyed the little twist. I've read other R.j Lewis books and liked them all. This was good as it wasn't too gushy. A nice love story with though
