AWAKENED BY A KISS

Laura Fairleigh needs a husband. If she is to keep a roof over her siblings’ heads, the prim rector’s daughter must wed by her twenty-first birthday. When she finds a mysterious stranger with the face of an angel and the body of Adonis unconscious in the forest and with no memory of his name or his past, she decides to claim him for her own. Little does she know that her fallen angel is really the devil in disguise.

Sterling Harlow, the notorious rakehell known as the “Devil of Devonbrooke,” awakens to the enchanting kiss of a lovely young woman who informs him he is her long-lost betrothed. With her sun-kissed cheeks and smattering of freckles, she looks every inch the innocent, but her curves possess a woman’s allure. When she assures him he is the perfect gentleman, he wonders if he’s lost his wits as well as his memory. He would have sworn he was not a man to be satisfied with mere kisses—especially from lips as sweet and luscious as Laura’s.As he attempts to uncover the truth before their wedding night, A Kiss To Remember ignites a passion neither of them will ever be able to forget....

She saw him lying unconscious in the middle of the wood, with a face of an angel and the body of Adonis and perhaps the answer to her prayers. Laura Fairleigh is in a bit of a bind. In order to keep a roof over the heads of her younger brother and sister she must marry before she turns 21 (terms of a will and all that) - which is a few weeks away. Sterling Harlow aka the 'Devil of Devonbrooke' is awoken by a kiss from Laura who informs him that he is her long-lost betrothed. Befuddled from his fall and with no idea who he is, he believes Laura when she tells him that he is Nicholas Radcliffe but he does wonder if he has lost his wits as well as his memory as he is sure there is something Laura isn't telling him. Can he uncover the truth before the wedding night or indeed will he survive after the wedding with in-laws hell bent on stopping Laura from marrying a complete stranger to save them? This is a lovely, witty and funny story and highly enjoyable. Great summer reading material - well great brain candy for any time really.

5.0 out of 5 stars A grown up faerytale for Lasses 19 Dec 2003
By Deborah MacGillivray HALL OF FAME VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Teresa Medeiros is a big fan of Anne Stuart, and since I adore Stuart's writing it does not surprise me I love Medeiros, too.
I picked up Whisper of Roses and have been a fan ever since. As of late, she has turned her attention to faerytale. Face it, the little girl in all of us weened on Prince Charming will enjoy these fresh look at old tales.

She revisits Sleeping Beauty, but in this big girls tales, it's Prince Baby who is sleeping or more to the case Duke Baby.

Laura Fairleigh an orphan, was raised by a kind benefactress (aka Faery Godmother) who leaves her Arden Manor when she dies.
Only one problem, in order to hang on to the Manor she must marry before she hits that kiss of death the Big 21st Birthday. She only has three weeks, so she prays for a man to be sent to her to save her from losing the house - and her prayers are answered - sort of.

The man who comes, is the one she fears most (though she does not know this). He is Sterling Harlow, a roguish estranged son of Laura's benefactress known as the Devil Duke of Devonbrooke. He has come to kick the gooddigger out of "his" home and reclaim it, but he suffers a fall from a horse and is knocked out.

Laura is getting desperate at this point, so when her kiss awakens him, she convinces him they are betrothed, hoping she can get him to the alter before the three weeks are up.

It's a sweet and sexy tale that is just the perfect bedtime story for all grown up lasses!!

5.0 out of 5 stars New Author 13 Oct 2010
By Elizabeth Meades VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the first book of Teresa Medeiros I've ever had the pleasure of reading, and after much deliberation I decided to buy and was so glad I did. My favourite character in the book was Lottie (Laura's sister) as I thought she was adorable, however all the characters are well developed and believable. None of them are annoyingly perfect like in other books, although Laura did get on my nerve's, a little bit but only towards the end.

The book is split into two parts, and unlike other memory lost stories it doesn't focus completely on the main hero losing his memory and become stupidly unbelievable. Rather the story flows and develops, with the characters evolving and compromising throughout.

You should buy this book, particularly if you like authors such as Julia Quinn and Eloisa James as I believe it is a similar style and sense of humour which, for me is a must have in books. I have found a new author, and will definitely be buying her books in the future!
