Product Description

Richard's life is a horror story. And it's all the fault of those people inside his head.

Richard thinks he has them stereotyped for his autobiography, but he’s about to get a new tenant: the Insider, a malevolent soul-hopping spirit that may or may not be born from Richard’s nightmares and demands a co-writing credit and a little bit of foot-kissing dark worship.

Now Richard doesn’t know which voice to trust. The book’s been rejected 117 times. The people he loves keep turning up dead. And here comes the woman of his dreams.

A dark romantic thriller in the style of Chuck Palahniuk, Jeff Lindsay's "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" series, and Bret Easton Ellis.

Scott Nicholson is author of 15 other paranormal, mystery, and suspense thrillers, including the #1 Kindle bestsellers LIQUID FEAR, DISINTEGRATION, THE RED CHURCH, and THE SKULL RING. Learn more about Scott's work at Author Central.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet another great! 29 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The way this story unfolds is amazing. The author has taken a complex theme to write about, and brought it together beautifully. I don't want to say too much, as I would give the plot away, but the way the characters are developed is amazing. The way the author writes makes the reader stop and think 'what a great line' with his descriptive talent. The story gives an amazing insight to mental health and whilst I was reading it, it made me ask 'Is this how it really is?' - it was fascinating. The story is well written, polished, and throughout it all you are dying to know where he is going, and how he is going to end the tale. Highly recommended. If you like Scott Nicholson's work, then you won't be disappointed with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars another great read! 5 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This, for me, was the hardest book written by Scott Nicholson that I have read so far. It's told from the perspective of Richard and his multiple personalities and is written so well that you really see through Richard's eyes, which can be quite traumatic at times, because Richard has not had a happy, love filled life. The story starts with Richard as a young boy and we see him growing up. It really does get you wondering whether his multiple personalities existed because of his terrible childhood or was he always that way? The author really does have a great storytelling talent and this book is littered with absolute gems of "one liners". As I said, its not an easy read, but well worth it, because the story unfolds itself so well and the characters grow both in themselves and on you! The plot, characters and dialogue are absolutely excellent and this is well worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading 2 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book by Scott Nicholson that I've read and if this is anything to go by I will definitely reading his others. This is written from such a different perspective from inside Richards head, not just one person but a person with multiple personalities. Each personality so very different each serving a different purpose.

Physically abused by his bully father from an early age we meet each personality as they form from difficult encounters as Richard grows up. We see Richard and his friends inside the Bone House (Richards mind)live day to day until the inevitable happens one of his personalities takes matters out of Richards control and kills his father to protect his mother from another brutal beating.

Years later Richard is at college when a close girl-friend kills herself, this results in another personality (the insider) emerging claiming to be some sort of alien parasite that can completely take Richards body over and commit cold bloodied murder with Richard having no memory of it apart from what his personalities show him in clips. Richard falls in love, but the insider will not be happy until he has destroyed every one that loves Richard and who loves Richard. There is this internal battle within Richards mind and no doubt it is a battle of good versus evil, can Richard win and what side are his bone house friends the book to find out...
