'Jill Mansell is in a different league'

(Sun ) --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

Love is always just around the corner in a Jill Mansell novel - with a few surprises and a lot of humour on the way to happiness

When Izzy is knocked off her motor bike she doesn't just lose her dignity - she loses as a result not one but two long-term boyfriends, her job and, to boot, her extremely bijou flat. Gina, who caused the accident, has more important things to worry about - her husband's mistress is pregnant and she's suddenly on her own. Why should she care about Izzy? Yet somehow the well-heeled Gina finds herself opening her home to Izzy and her spirited teenage daughter. And it's there that Izzy meets heart-stoppingly handsome Sam, whose lingering kiss is all it takes for her to find the true love that has always eluded her - though there are just a few obstacles between that first kiss and the 'happy ever after'...

Izzy isn't the most loveable Mansell heroine, but she grows on you (as she does on the other characters in the book). In fact, this book is a collection of some real oddballs - Izzy (aspiring singer and full-time flake), Gina (if there was anyone less appropriately named in fiction - she's definitely not a "Gina"!), Vivienne (never-take-no-for-an-answer Ex of our hero, Sam), Marcy (who breaks up Gina's marriage with an untimely pregnancy), Tash (a classic jerk in sheep's clothing), Kat (who at 17 appears to be the mature one, but proves she's not quite that grown up after all), Andrew (Gina's husband, you almost come to feel sorry for him!), Simon (future hero in the making), and Sam - our perfect hero. You can see - another cast of thousands, a Mansell trademark. I have to admit - although I liked this book a lot (stayed up late last night to finish it), I don't love it the way I have loved previous Mansell novels. It's very good - but Good at Games, Head Over Heels, Millie's Fling, Sheer Mischief, Perfect Timing are all loads better. I've got Mixed Doubles to finish up, then it's a long dry spell until the next one hits the shelf! Keep turning them out Jill, we love them!

An hilariously funny and touching tale of the ups and downs of the optimistic Izzy, her long suffering daughter Kat, their friends and their love lives. I found it hard to put down.
The best Jill Mansell book I have read so far.

This Kiss, this Kiss. 25 May 2011
Format:Paperback
It took me MONTHS to read this book. So long infact that my poor Kindle's battery ran out because i left it while i tried to read this, which i have in paperback. But it's not because i didnt like it, it's because i got a new puppy and had no time to do anything relaxing :P

So, anyway the book! Yes, i did like it. Not a Mansell best but still worth a read if you are a fan of hers, as i am.

The characters are good, although Izzy is the most annoying. I couldn't warm to her. I found her immature, selfish and a bit stupid. I liked her daughter, Katerina though, for the most part she had a good head on her shoulders, for the most part :P

I liked how Gina changed through the book, she was very stuffy to begin with, but the new people in her life changed her for the better, Her husband Andrew was a man whose brains are where most mens are though :/

And i think Sam was supposed to be the hero of the book but i found him quite dull. He didnt grab me as other Mansell men have!

It's not a book to gush about but it is a nice, fluffy read with some serious parts too. Recommended.
