Book Description

4 Oct 2004

Detective Alex Cross makes his second appearance in the worldwide No 1 bestseller that also became a No 1 box office hit as a film starring Morgan Freeman – now reissued in striking new cover style.

In Kiss the Girls, Washington-based homicide detective Alex Cross is thrust into a case he will never forget. This time there isn’t just one serial killer, there are two. One collects beautiful, intelligent women on college campuses on the east coast. The other is terrorising LA with a series of unspeakable murders. But the truly chilling news is that the two brilliant and elusive killers are communicating, cooperating, competing – and they have Alex Cross’s niece.

This was the first James Patterson that I have read and if all his book are anything like this one give me more! It was the first book in a long time that I just didn't want to put down. He describes everything in such a way that it actually makes you think that it is all happening in real life. I only wish I had read Along came a spider first. SUPERB!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars First 80% good, last 20% feeble 18 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This novel has an interesting, psychologically complex crime, with some tense and exciting moments. It's easy to read, entertaining, and chilling. Until you get to the end.
The detective is ineffectual and his efforts in detecting the solution are almost non-existent. He does almost nothing to find out the murderer, who in the end is tracked only because he/she/they give themself away. The final revelation of the criminal's identity leaves you thinking "But who's that?".

3.0 out of 5 stars OK if you just want a page-turner 3 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Thought I had to write a review to counterbaance all the 'Fantastic', 'Brilliant' 5-star reviews. This was my first Patterson book and it is certainly a page-turner. However the writing and plot construction are lazy. Once identities are revealed, the plot does not stand up to re-examination. There are just a few too many places in the book where I thought 'Why don't the police do this....?' I am disappointed as the first indications were that I had found a modern author who didn't require the reader to put their mental faculties on hold. Unfortunately when I got to the second half of the book, I realised that Patterson is just like all the other sloppy writers who fill the airport bookstore shelves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horrifying, Intense and Intriguing. 24 Sep 2005
Format:Paperback
What an amazing book this is. Please, don't be put off by the lame movies of Along Came A Spider or Kiss The Girls as they stray so far from the book it is beyond a joke. However, this book is definitely not for the faint-hearted. It describes murder and rape in very vivid detail that will no doubt horrify most readers. However, if you can cope with such imagery then this book is as amazing as it is chilling. Similar to the first Cross novel, KTG's proves to be a good example of a 'real' page-turner. Full of twists, the book switches from one characters point of view to the other, leaving the reader gagging to find out what happens next. After reading the first three Alex Cross books I can confidently say that this series looks to be a great one that I am glad to have stumbled upon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read 21 May 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
James Patterson never ceases to amaze!

First of all the book itself was in great condition and arrived amazing fast.

The story itself is just as gripping as along came a spider so if your reading the Alex Cross series and liked the first one you won't be disappointed. It is a bit more graphic than the first but nevertheless just as good.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading the next one.

I loved the film so bought the book. The book is far more gruesome than the film. Couldn't put it down but it really made me squirm in parts.
