I got the box-set for christmas and I love it. With over 6 hours of classic KISS songs, it's a must for any serious fan. One of the best features I think it has, is all of the unreleased demos of some of my favourite songs. Although some of the demos are completely different (like Domino and God Of Thunder) to the versions that we all know and love, it is an interesting look in to how these songs came about. Besides the 5 CD's you also get a 120+ page book which is great. It tells you all about the creation and the journey of the band. It also tells you loads of great, probably never before seen info about the individual songs and it has cool comments by Gene and Paul themselves. This has got to be the ultimate KISS CD collection available, and it is a must for any KISS fan.

As with most box sets fans will argue over what gets put on and whats left off, personally i hate a definitive box set that includes demos of classics like love gun/god of thunder and not the originals,i also hate demos and live tracks interspersed with studio tracks, drives me nuts, good got that off my chest, most box sets dont live up to the initial promise, they should all take a leaf out of wishbone ash's distilation set, that box set is perfect ,2 discs greatest hits,i disc rarities & demos etc and 4th disc unreleased live tracks - its really that easy, the kiss box set should have been 6 discs, disc 1 wicked lester album, disc 2 demos/outakes , disc 3/4 &5 should have been the best of the 70's/80's and 90's and the final disc either various unreleased live tracks or indeed an unreleased live album- tokyo '77 for example, there is much to enjoy on this box set but it could have been so much more and at the quite ridiculous price's it should have been, here's hoping someone somewhere within the kiss organisation is able to compile a definitive box set in the future because this aint it

There are bands that are more than happy to do things by halves; they release boring, clichéd filled music, their image is nothing special, they are in no way going to push the music industry forward.
But every now and then and band emerges that does the exact opposite. KISS is one of these bands. During their 30 year KISStory, KISS have pushed every limit and broken every rule with their pulse pumping music, sensational stage shows and their fantastic image.
Although having (but never suffering from) line-up changes KISS has always produced top-notch rock songs and many of which have become anthems - 'Rock and Roll All Nite, Detroit Rock City and God Gave Rock And Roll To You'.
The original line-up of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehely and Peter Criss all set out to fulfil their dream of 'making good live music' and that's exactly what they did.
This 5 CD box set takes us along a journey from the pre-KISS days of 60's 'Wicked Lester' (Paul and Gene's first band together producing great songs such as 'Keep Me Waiting',' She' and' Love Her All I Can'), through KISS's seventies hey-day, through the original line-ups split, through the decline in the 80'and to the reunion of the 90's.
This boxed set boast 94 tracks-95% of which are previously unreleased demo and live versions. The music is complemented by a 120 page book contaning previously unseen colour photos on each page, an essay about KISS's history and commentary by band members on each and every song. The entire lot is presented in a black box with the KISS logo in metal boldly on the front
This is without a doubt the greatest product of its kind on the market at the moment and will probably be for a long time. It's an extremely great box set for KISS fans and a superb starting point for new fans. Buy it, listen to it and prepare to Rock and Roll all Nite And Party Everyday.

this is possibly the best collection of music you will ever hear as it has everything...there is rock, heavy, ballard, slow and even disco! it deserves far more than 5 stars. the book is also a great read and has all the little touches that make it truely special. i just received it after 2 years of waiting and i love it, and honestly cant stop playing it. if u like KISS u will more than love this, as it is awesome. the tracks are brilliant too with great quality recordings and live shows. worth every last penny... and more

I recently got this after waiting for ages for if to come down in price!!! Been a huge Kiss fan since Love Gun, Double Platinum (late 70's!)and have over 60 Kiss albums in my collection, so was really chuffed at the prospect of demos, unreleased stuff, live versions etc, and I have to say, I have mixed views. How many times do they need to release stuff already available elsewhere! Surely this set should have been made up entirely of rarities etc?

Slightly disapointed but highlights include the demos and recordings from the early days, which are really cool to hear.

Packaging as always is superb- lots of cool pictures etc., but alot of the commentry stuff is already available in the book "Behind the Mask".

There has to be a "Box set 2" in the pipeline!
