Product Description

Amazon Review

Mick Inkpen's Kipper simply has to be one of the most endearing--not to mention enduring--children's characters of all time, constantly furthering the cause of his legions of young fans as they lap up every word and picture in each of his highly successful stories.

It is easy to see why Kipper is so popular. His books are the perfect combination of easy-to-read--or follow--text and simple, yet captivating stories. Their bright, clear illustrations have certainly proved to be a winning formula in the past and that seems likely to continue well into the future.

In Kipper's Christmas Eve, Inkpen works his magic once again in a charming tale of the happy little puppy and his familiar friends as they prepare to hang up their stockings in readiness for a visit from Santa. As usual, Inkpen's illustrations are a delight and will enthral any child; the story, as sweet as candy, makes for perfect pre-Christmas entertainment. At the back of the book there is a glowing, flashing surprise that every child will love.

A welcome addition to the Kipper family of books, Kipper's Christmas Eve is a seasonal picture book that children everywhere will continue to treasure long after Santa has drunk his last sherry and eaten his last mince pie. (Ages 3 to 5) --Susan Harrison

My son (aged 3) was given this book on Christmas Eve and reading it together made for a very magical night. See how Kipper prepares for Christmas, finding a tree, putting out his stocking, sharing presents with his friends and thinking what he'd like from Santa. For us, the best line in the whole book was "Which is best, Christmas Day or Christmas Eve? Presents or expecting presents?" This sums up a child's excitement of Christmas beautifully! I can see this book will become a Christmas tradition in our house, particularly as my 1 year old also loves Kipper. Suitable all year round though too !!

Format: Hardcover
A snowy story from Mick Inkpen which commences with a two-page simple snowy spread featuring Kipper setting out with his spade...and the same scene, albeit with less falling snow......winding up the anticipation!

This book is always one of the favourites at this time of the year, for the 'extra' who adds to that enthusiasm to turn the page!

From the back cover:-

'On Christmas Eve the little fir tree that Kipper finds is not the only thing he brings home.'

Attractive covers open to 32 high quality shiny pages, packed full of clear and descriptive text, with the usual endearing illustrations, in the popular 2-page spread format.

Example of text:-

'Which is best?' said Kipper to himself.
'Christmas Day? Or Christmas Eve?'
He reached the top of Big Hill and stopped.
'Presents? Or expecting presents?'
And then, because he was too excited to decide, he just whooped, and went charging down the slope towards the wood.
It was Christmas Eve and he was looking for a Christmas tree to take home.........'

And Kipper soon spots just the right little tree, but it is a lot harder work than he thinks!
Pig helps and although Arnold notices 'something', Kipper and Pig are much too busy....all day!
Tiger arrives later on and, as the friends finally wind up for the day, Kipper is not the only one who is wide awake...waiting for Father Christmas!
