Pig is having a party and he wants a pet. Unfortunately, everyone buys him one, including Kipper who chooses a hamster called Roly-Poly (because he can do roly poly's obviously!). This shows a problem every parent is familiar with - your child is going to a party and chooses a present for their friend which they then want to keep... Kipper becomes a little attached to Roly Poly, but in the end everyone is happy as Pig, having now quite a few pets of his own, allows Kipper to look after the greedy hamster for him. I brought this book for my oldest son and it has been a favourite with my two younger children too. I think 13 years is good value for a book, but then Mick Inkpen can do no wrong as far as I am concerned.

about the lovable character, 'Kipper', and his 'birthday gift' for PIG!
In this story we find Pig busy writing his birthday party invitations and his present list.
When he receives his invite, Kipper rushes out to choose a present but it proves to be rather more difficult than he thought!
From the back cover:-
`Kipper wants to choose a pet for Pig's birthday present. The rabbit is too sleepy, the guinea pigs are too timid, the mouse is too shy and the stick insect is boring.
But the hamster?
The hamster is perfect.'
32 high quality shiny pages, packed full of exciting, descriptive text and endearing illustrations, in the popular 2-page spread format.

`......The stick insect?
Too much like a stick
Boring.
But the hamster?
The hamster was not sleepy, nor timid, nor shy, and it wasn't like a stick at all! It was perfect.

Absolutely brilliant book. My little girl loves this book. I constantly have to read it to her. Would recommend this book to whoever buys it. A fantastic book and a nice story to go with it.
