Product Description

Product Description

This visitors' guide describes the heritage, landscape, climate, flora and fauna of the Kintyre peninsula. The area is shaped like a finger, pointing from the heartland of Argyll to the Gaelic homeland in Northern Ireland. The new ferry link with Antrim has put Kintyre firmly on the tourist map.

First Sentence
APPROACHING KINTYRE FROM the north, the main road from Glasgow heads south at Lochgilphead, running through Ardrishaig at the southern end of the Crinan Canal, then twisting round the eastern shores of Knapdale, past the former Campbell home at Stonefield, now an exclusive hotel, until suddenly reaching the little village of Tarbert, which guards the narrow isthmus and keeps the peninsula of Kintyre from being a true island. Read the first page

A great book giving historical info and useful info about local attractions. A more detailed map would be useful though. Definitely a good buy.
