Product Description

Home is where the heart is! Free spirit Rio Kinsella finds herself settled in the picture-postcard village of Lissamore on Ireland's West Coast. It's where she took her first step, had her first kiss and conceived her beloved son Finn. But now Finn's spread his wings and flown the nest, what's to keep her here? An old flame and a new prospect may provide the answer! City girl Dervla is poles apart from her bohemian sister. A businesswoman with a quick mind, a hard heart and a nose for a good deal, she has no time for love. But is there anywhere she can really call home? And will the arrival of a new client throw her glossy magazine life-style into disarray? Torn apart by a long-standing feud, the Kinsella sisters are reunited upon the death of their wayward father. But on clearing the family home, they discover a secret so intriguing it could change their lives forever! Welcome to blissfully unpredictable Lissamore. It's guaranteed you'll never want to leave!

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 13 Jun 2009
By Angie (Bucks) - See all my reviews
This was the first Kate Thompson book i've read, and I have to say i found it lacking any real plot and substance. I thought it started off quite well, laying the foundations of 2 intriguing mysteries..but then it never bothered to particularly follow them up! Didn't really warm to either of the 2 main female character's - both a bit stereo-typed - Dervla the cold career girl, and Rio the free-spirit - and not much more to either of them than that. The whole thing just didn't work for me. When i'm reading a really good book, i dread getting to the end - but with this i just wanted to hurry up and finish it so I could start something else. My sister loved it - so maybe it's just me!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Kinsella Sisters, 20 April 2009

Hi. I'm a BIG Kate Thompson fan and eagerly await her books. I thoroughly enjoyed The Kinsella Sisters and I liked the fact that Kate has created another family of characters that we'll obviousely read more about. The setting was a village in the West and it reminded me of the area just outside Spiddal on the Baile na hAbhann side heading northwards. I loved the characters and found them all 'real' and warm. Ria certainly is not a cold person. Her sister Dervla may be as we're getting to know her. While the book does end abruptly (one turns a page and is surprised it's the last page), the fist chapter of the obvious sequel is included at the back of the book. There are so many unanswered questions, which I can now look forward to in the next book. Thank you Kate for another wonderful read. K

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmm..., 11 Dec 2009
By C. Rucroft "The little bookworm" (North Yorkshire, England) - See all my reviews

This book started so so well. The mystery element was set up really well and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. Well, I was disappointed. The "big" storyline went no-where and there were so many mini-plots I couldn't keep up. There were also some of the most annoying characters I think I've ever read about (step forward Isabella). When we got to a conversation part, they were totally unnatural (has the author ever listened to anyone real speak?).

It was all too perfect and the ending didn't tie a single thing up. All in all, the book made absolutely no sense. It gets two stars because I did manage to finish it, it was good at the beginning and I liked the cover.
