This is exactly the same SSD drive as the intel X25M, just on a different cover (repackaged). You get all the benefits and performance of intel X25M SSD. I own G1 X25M and it's really fast.
If you notice your laptop or desktop to be accessing your harddisk a lot of time then you will see tremendous speed performance with this drive. It's the best performance upgrade you can have in your laptop.
In terms of the drive's life expectancy, the main factor is the amount of writes you do to the drive. On a normal daily-laptop-work usage then the drive will last >15 years. You can actually calculate this since the number of write cycles is tracked in the drive via the S.M.A.R.T attributes. So you can calculate when the drive will gonna die. Intel did a wonderful job in write amplification and wear-levelling algorithm. Thus, it will be obsolete before it reaches the maximum rated write cycles.

I did allot of research before I bought 2 of these here at Amazon. The only thing I didn't get was there are 2 versions. 1 is this one that is just the drive and the other comes with a mounting kit which I thought I was getting. No matter as I bought 2 of them I had to get a dual 2.5 to single 3.5 adapter anyway. I also had to change my motherboard BIOS to a Legacy configuration to get them to work but I guess that is because my motherboard is a little older.
I expected the drive to say x25-M on it so I was a little sacred when I got it and it just said Intel but when I looked up the Kingston model number it showed that it was indeed the x25-M.
I bought 2, 1 for the OS and my main programs and 1 for files. It looks like the OS drive Will last for ever as I rarely will need to update anything so no rewrites.
Everything happens immediately now which is nice and my OS boots in 4-5 seconds once the windows screen pops up. Pulling huge images files from the second drive for Photoshop also happens immediately.
