This is a really good flash drive. I bought the 64GB version. It performs quite well, much faster than my various 8GB USB 2.0 flash drives. I have tested the drive with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. The first test was using 'Crystal Disk Mark' on the '1000MB setting', testing the 'Sequential Read/Write'. The second test was copying a 998MB folder to the drive and seeing how long it took.
Here's the first test:

USB 2.0
Sequential Read: 30.18 MB/s
Sequential Write: 9.746 MB/s

USB 3.0
Sequential Read: 73.72 MB/s
Sequential Write: 13.06 MB/s

Here's the second test:

USB 2.0
Time to copy a 998MB folder: 51 seconds.

USB 3.0
Time to copy a 998MB folder: 27 seconds.

From these results; we can see that it was nearly twice as fast copying the 998MB folder over USB 3.0 as opposed to USB 2.0.

I have not tested how 'shock-and water-resistant' it is. but judging by the casing, it would seem as though Kingston are telling the truth.

The speeds that they stated are the maximum speeds, in perfect conditions. It is unlikely that you will be able to match those speeds. This is with anything though, you are unlikely to achieve the stated speed. I found the drive to be fast enough for what I needed. especially as it only cost £29.00 for the 64GB version, I'd say it's a bargain! Ordered Friday and received on Saturday with Amazon prime.

Overall, I would fully recommend this flash drive. It is fast over USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. It is also quite aesthetically pleasing. The rubber casing makes it tough, and also quite ergonomic.

My system specifications are as follows:

Asus Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard;
AMD FX-8120 CPU, Overclocked to 3.9GHz;
Corsair Vengeance Ram, 8GB;
OCZ Vertex 4 128Gb SSD;
Asus Nvidia GTX 660TI;
Windows 7 64bit.

This flash drive has a nice rubbery feel to it, not plasticky like most others and this makes it seem like it could take a little more abuse; being dropped and whatnot. Also, the lid is a really snug fit and even though I haven't dipped it into water to try, I can see how it would be waterproof, within reason.

In use it works well, data transfer is pretty fast and overall I'm quite happy. Generally, apart from the odd exception, over the years I've mostly gone for Sandisk flash drives because I find them incredibly reliable and the real test of this drive will be the longevity of it and its performance over time, but the initial signs are good.

This is quite a large drive due to the rugged enclosure, but it is very robust. Not only is it physically robust, the electronic side has been reliable for the last 30 days where it gets pulled in and out of USB2 and USB3 ports plenty of times daily, 5 days a week. I've used this with Windows XP, 7 and 8.1 and have abused it from time to time by removing the drive before the write is complete and the drive has never corrupted. I've just been left with 1 or 2 temp or part corrupted files which could be deleted without having to resort to any special commands or tools.

The reason its got 4 and not 5 stars is due to fact its not the fastest USB3, its faster than the economy USB3 and some of the supposed special USB3, but Kingston do make a faster USB3. I've gone and bought two of these and would recommend them to people who need reliability.

I'm not 100% convinced that the waterproofing is really a valuable addition - the cases where it might seem to be useful[1] are sufficiently unlikely that it seems like an unnecessary addition. However, it doesn't seem like it's had much impact on the price and it performs admirably as a USB drive. It seems pretty nippy, and its rubbery casing gives it a distinctiveness in the form factor that means you can easily pick it out of a lineup of other drives. It's fine, in other words. Perfectly servicable. If you need a USB drive, this is as good as any,

[1] For example, if you're a spy being chased by the goons of your nemesis, and you've got a USB drive full of evil plans to give to your guys 'in the lab', but in order to escape you need to dive into icy cold water and swim to your parked submarine.

Physically durable is how I would describe this 16gb memory stick. Enclosed in a rubber-like material the advertising says: water-resistent. Not water-proof. A splash or three of coffee won't do it any harm.

I dislike its slippery surface, especially in this spell of hot weather and the sweaty finger tips which follow. I had to hold it very tight to dislodge from USB connection.

As for transfer rates everything seems good to me using it for photos and web videos between devices. It has a light on one side (the socket side, not the blue plug side) of the unit which flashes on entrance and during any activity.

I also dislike the detachable cap that fits over the connecting part when not in use. Guaranteed to get lost some day. It fits snugly over the USB connector when not in use but the pitiful protrusion that counts as a rear 'connection' for the cap, when the USB stick is being used, makes for a flimsy, easily knocked-off cap. My Lexar Triton 16GB 150MB/s High Speed USB 3.0 Flash Drive (see video review) is far more efficient with its sliding connector although its solid thickness is a problem when the USB connections are stacked directly on top of each other. The rubber stick is a fraction thinner and its rubber enclosure has that bit of 'give.'
