I just got this today. It came formatted as FAT32 so I re-formatted it to NTSF and ended up with a usable space of 14.9GB.

Running on my laptop (Samsung RF710, i5, with USB 3.0 ports) read speeds when transferring large files (8gb mkv) were in excess of 110 MB/sec and write speeds did not drop bellow 73 MB/sec.

I haven't tested usb 2.0 speeds yet, and I don't see the reason form me to do so.

When dealing with smaller files speeds decrease as with any data transfer.

This is my first usb 3.0 flash drive, so it is the fastest flash drive I've had so far.

It is a bit fat and chunky, but I think it looks nice with its aluminium sides and has a blue LED that flashes behind its plastic cover so it is discrete.

I would recommend this product to people with usb 3.0 ports.

Wonderful Drive 21 Oct 2011

Since I work in an office environment where the Windows OS is in limited privileges, I make heavy use of Portable Apps and am no stranger to buying USB keys. Even running in USB 2.0 (at work), this drive is leaps and bounds over any drive I have purchased recently. While the discontinued Throttle and discontinued 8GB GT drives were lightning fast, I have had a spate of very bad 64GB purchases recently which, while patriotic, were horrendous (including huge CPU overhead and extremely slow small file copy).

Anyway, this drive absolutely flies. Copying lots of very small files (word documents, Eudora data) through very large files (huge zip files), the drive is great. For those intending to run Portable Apps within a Truecrypt container, even in USB 2.0, it is leaps and bounds ahead of any other drive I have owned.

I am extremely glad I purchased this drive.

Works as advertised 19 Nov 2011

As I hoped, multiple tests (from 1GB to 50GB files) have proven out the specs provided (100MB/s read 73MB/s write for USB 3.0 and 32MB/s both ways for USB 2.0).

Since I use/assist so many different pc's, it is SUPER handy having 64GB with me at all times.

I did reformat it to be NTFS (for a more robust file system and to handle large files).

It can get rather warm after transferring 50GB at once, but not alarmingly so.

Tucked away inside the instructions is a teeny tiny lanyard (one of the smallest I have ever seen). It worked just right for my situation (I have my house key on it).

It has a 5 year warranty (see comments for link)

Only 2 of the PCs that I interact with have USB 3.0 now, but that will change with time, so I have stopped buying 2.0 whenever a 3.0 alternative exists.

Update 4/2012: Amazon had a Lighting Deal on this and I picked up another one. It will come in handy for bringing movies and tv shows to watch on my notebook while on vacation (my notebook has a rather small SSD).

Ultimate is right! 3 Dec 2011

I decided to check out this drive after being supremely disappointed with several other supposed USB 3.0 drives, and this one blew me away. I used four test groups on both USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. The test groups were pictures (460 mb), music (4 gb), 24-minute videos (8.5 gb), and a single 4 gb video. Here were my results:

USB 3.0 Write Speeds
Pictures - 15.8 mb/s
Music - 45.3 mb/s
Short Videos - 54.8 mb/s
Single Video - 80.9 mb/s

And those are write speeds! Read speeds were over 100 mb/s.

USB 2.0 Write Speeds
Pictures - 11.3 mb/s
Music - 24.0 mb/s
Short Videos - 24.6 mb/s
Single Video - 28.2 mb/s

Read speeds were just over 30 mb/s. This drive's write speeds are faster on 2.0 than some of the other 3.0 drives I've tested.

As you can see, the results have been incredible. I bought this drive with skepticism, as I found the claims of its speed hard to believe given past experience, but I've never been happier to be wrong.
