I looked at the cover and the title (I judge a DVD by the cover and the title because I'm shallow that way) and I thought, "That looks cool, violent, handsome, sexy, energetic and energising".
I'm glad to report that it was everything I expected.
It delivered coolness, violence, handsomeness, sexiness and energy to order!
But it delivered more...much more.
Firstly, it delivered an awful lot of incredibly good looking people.
Wow! It is a fact that everyone, that is to say, every male and female who appears in this film, is buffed with a capital B.
That is possibly unrealistic, although I have never been to Miami so I can't comment specifically, although I would like to think that it was indeed a fact.
I would like to think that somewhere in the world, there is a place where all the good looking people hang out - and if it is not a Miami nightclub then where on earth is it?
Anyway...
What I was pleasantly surprised about, was, among other things, Donnie Wahlberg himself. I must confess that this is the first film in which I have seen him. He's a great actor. He reminded me of Michael Keaton - that is to say, he vibes to me like he would also be a really nice guy in real life. I'm saying here that he came across as a genuine guy.
Second surprise: The Police are shown to be of integrity.
Third surprise: This is a 15, but it was only when the film had finished that I realised that, remarkably, I could not recall any "F" words in it, or even any "S" words. Just goes to show, you can make a good film without sweary words - not that I am against those in appropriate filmic context.
Criticisms of this film? I don't have any. I really enjoyed this film.
Advisory: No profanity, no breasts-out nudity (surprisingly, and for some, disappointingly), just lots of really good looking people, who also happen to have some serious violence and hard drug/nose bleeding issues going on.
