Basically, I love the Farajeon's attitude toward literature for children, which spills over into pleasure for adults. This little book, though written for British children, is surely of interest for anyone who has ever studied English literature or history. I wish I had seen it when I was taking comprehensive exams in English literature, to help me remember the names, dates and lineage of English monarchs. As an American, I always struggled to get them them straight--and here they are, all lined up for me, with delightful pictures and poems to match. This little book is a treasure.
