Having already burnt a hole in the groundsheet of our tent using a gas lantern, we were keen to reduce the possibility of fire and a ruined holiday this time. This lantern fits the bill and then some.
It has two chargers: one for the mains supply and one for the car and unlike the led counterparts, actually provides light enough to see by. True, it's not nearly as bright as the gas lantern, but it can be hung from the top of the tent or knocked over if on the floor without fear of melting holes in the tent or worse still, setting it on fire.
It is made from tough plastic and is simply constructed to make changing the tube easy. Once fully charged, it lasts for ages, but the best bit is the remote.
Unlike infra-red and therefore directional 'line of sight' wands, e.g., for TVs or videos, it can be used to switch the lantern on or off from outside the tent when it's dark, to help when getting in or leaving and is especially good for switching it off when tucked up and toasty in bed.
If you'll pardon the pun, it's brilliant.
