It doesn't cost much, so don't expect precision measurement or craftmanship! The bulb protector is stapled into the wood, and mine was off centre, meaning the bulb contacted the metal protector. Unlikely to affect the reading, but shows sloppy manufacturing. The prismatic effect is good, allowing the temperature to be read from a distance of more than a metre (3 feet), but the divisions are small enough that it would be difficult to differentiate between degrees if viewing from more than 2 metres (6 feet) - at least with my eyesight! It has a small washer which pivots out of the top, on which you can hang the thermometer. Unfortunately there is nothing to allow fixing on the bottom, and a strong gust of wind whipped it off and broke it within 3 days of installation. Not the product's fault, but if you buy you may wish to anchor it properly.
