Product Description

School Library Journal (STARRED)Aiming to provide an imaginative introduction to the natural world and the huge array of species that inhabit it, this work is a spectacular success. . . . [I]t includes some truly bizarre and gross facts. . . Don't let this title languish in the reference stacks. Put it in circulation where it can be taken home and enjoyed. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I'm a teacher and my class of 6-year-olds really like this book because there are lots of great photographs and the way the book is set out lets them compare how long things live easily, especially compared to humans. There isn't too much information on each page so they don't get overwhelmed when looking at it. We recently used it as one of our information texts in class, to great success.

I like the look and feel of the book. I think any child would like this as a present and it will be relevant for a long, long time!

A Great Christmas Gift -Highly Recommended! 19 Dec 2012

This book is colorful, well-designed and very informative, covering many kinds of animals the average reader will not recognize. Just the kind of book I would have loved as a child, and still find fascinating today, and I am a zoologist by profession!
Not just for bigger kids 5 Mar 2013

My 3 going on 4 year old niece got this out from the library and she is in love with it. I ordered it for her birthday so she has her own copy. The description says 9 years, but inquisitive youngsters may like it too!
