Okay I'll get right down to the basics.
Birth by Sleep is a fast-paced action adventure that never leaves you feeling bored.
It has the most advanced fighting system in any of the franchise so far.
In a nutshell its actually fun levelling up and gaining new abilities via the command deck or D-Link system.
Graphically the game is a treat.Worlds look colourful and animations are crisp.
My own gripe with the graphics is it slows down the loading times somewhat.
It is recommended you have a memory stick with at least 624mb of space and additional space for each characters game slot.
Another cool addition to this game is the option to play as three characters.
Terra,Ven and Aqua. The recommended order to play the game in to best understand the story is this order.
The story is brand new for the most part although information about Kingdom hearts is given especially towards the end.
I don't want to spoil anything but I will say Birth by Sleep has by far the most ambitious and interesting story since the Original. It will have you hooked until the credits roll.
There have been many complaints about the camera, loadtimes and world sizes.
To be honest these have been trademarks of the Kh series since the beginning.
If you are buying this game you will already know the series flaws but it's pros outweigh the cons by miles.
Kingdom hearts has always been a story driven Rpg.
Birth by Sleep has the superb story but its the gameplay that gives it a 5 star rating in my book.
Outside of battling and storylines there are plenty of things to do like a little exploration, bonus games, and side quests.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like the others, you'll like this 13 Nov 2010
Platform for Display:Sony PSP|Edition:Special Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm a big fan of the original two PS2 titles, so this was a must have for me.
I've not been disappointed.
The control system is slightly different, but not much and makes the game quite interesting in relation to the others.
There is also a Monopoly like minigame that at first seems confusing, but is quite simple and becomes very enjoyable as well as useful, as it can be used to power up your abilities or gain new ones.
If you havn't played the other games, the story may be a little difficult to follow, but for those that have, it answers a few questions you may have.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best since the original! 29 Oct 2010
Platform for Display:Sony PSP|Edition:Special Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This Kingdom Hearts game is on my opinion the best since the original. The storyline is just amazing and reveals many things about the series, it also shows the future for the series with a very long secret movie!

The battle system has changed again for Birth by Sleep. This game yet again does not have MP but something called the Command Deck which you get command's (e.g. Fire, Strike Raid etc) and you get a certain number of commands you can add to it.

You get a choice of three characters: Aqua, Ventus and Terra. Nomura (the creator of the series) suggests you play the game in this order: Terra then Ventus and finally Aqua to understand the story better.

As this is the special edition you get two art cards and a art book and they are both presented nicely and are full colour and is such a beautiful thing to own!

Overall this game is great just like it's predecessors' and is full of new features and worlds to explore!

Gameplay 10/10
Music 10/10
Story 10/10
Graphics 10/10

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I was expecting to like this, I've enjoyed the previous KH games I've played and I had high hopes, but Birth by Sleep has more than delivered! There are three separate but deeply intertwined stories, many mini-games and Square Enix has put an impressive amount of work into polishing every aspect of the interface. Like the other KH games, this game features a huge cast of characters and the graphics and sound quality that they've managed to squeeze out of the PSP are amazing! The main plot is not very difficult, and each story isn't massively long, but when you play all three and throw in all the mini-games and the Mirage Arena, this game should keep you busy for quite some time.

As this is a prequel to a fairly long-running series the plot is quite complex and contains many, many references to things that will occur in the later (chronologically speaking) games and doesn't (indeed: isn't meant to) wrap up the characters plots. I would not really recommend this as a first Kingdom Hearts game, but if they keep making them this well then I sincerely hope it won't be the last!

If you like the Kingdom Hearts games, then you need this in your life!
