In my opinion Frank Lean is one of the most underrated authors today and unfortunately his books are not always that easy to get hold of. This is the fifth book that I have read by Frank Lean featuring his Mancunian private eye Dave Cunane. Everything about these books is so realistic and the writing style is fantastic. The storyline here is that local millionaire and eccentric political leader Fred Travis is found with his throat cut and Dave Cunane's business card is clasped in his hand. Thing's go rapidly downhill from there. He finds it hard to convince the police that he had nothing to do with the murder then his friend Clint Lane is accused and arrested. From there the action never stops, involving some very unsavoury characters all brilliantly described.
I just wish that these books were easier to get hold of because as far as I am concerned Frank Lean is by far the best writer in this sort of genre that I have seen. If you read this series you will be begging for more.
