2.0 out of 5 stars Unintentionally hilarious 18 Dec 2011
By BPR
Format:DVD
Back in 2000, Russell Crowe starred in the Ridley Scott epic Gladiator which was greeted with huge acclaim from critics and moviegoers alike. Over the next few years, Hollywood made a few movies based upon Gladiator's including a remake of Clash of the Titans and Zack Snyder's very stylish 300, based on the comic book. The boxoffice success of Gladiator also helped bring series such as Rome and Spartacus: Blood and Sand to the small screen and of course, many copycat low budget films, hoping to cash-in on the Gladiator genre. Kingdom of Gladiators is one of these low budget independent features and is Italian director Stefano Milla's second feature film after Claang the Game, another Gladiator movie.

The synopsis from the press release is as follows:
In an ancient world where magic is common and mighty warriors roam, a King faced by merciless opponents enters into a pact with a demon to ensure his victory at all costs. After ruling for many years, the mysterious demon reappears to the King at a Royal Tournament and claims his settlement - the lives of the court's descendants and eventually the destruction of mankind. Three powerful gladiators are chosen from the competitors to hunt down the demon, break his spell and protect the realm. But as the forces of darkness prepare to rise, can the gladiators overcome their differences and undertake an incredible adventure that may end in the ultimate sacrifice? The warriors are ready, let the final battle commence.

Now let's get one thing out the way fast... This is not a particularly good film. The acting is regrettably poor, with such a mish-mash of accents throughout characters that are supposedly from the same place.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS OR WATCH IT 10 Oct 2011
Format:DVD
I bought this based on the cover graphics and certificate rating (15) and the little description of the content in relation to the certificate, which I often do. I gave up watching it after the first 5 minutes and fast-forwarded it to the first couple of fight scenes before giving up completely.

The "film" - and I use this term loosely - is nothing like the graphic cover and would be better certified as a U and sold within the comedy section for the really bad acting and fight scenes, which can only be described as laughable.

The graphic and title would lead you to believe some form of gladiator battles, fought in an arena and not in a castle courtyard.

The costumes were a mix of purchases or donations from 'Xena: Warrior Princess' and 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' past productions.

The only possible good point of my purchase is that potential buyers can learn from my mistake and not to waste their money on this rubbish. Save your money and don't buy this.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT WATCH! 6 Oct 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This film is low budget as there are not many characters, cheap camera effects. In the battle scene, in the pit it flicks back and forth to the fighting and crowd cheering, but there is only about 8 – 10 people in the entire pit stadium. DO NOT WATCH.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a frustrating experience 9 April 2013

I am absolutely frustrated with this movie. And how can Amazon charge me almost 4.00 to rent such poorly writen, directed and produced movie. Actors can't be worse...to say the least. The dialogues are a joke...gosh, I'd rather pay to watch kids perform in a school theatrical production, than watch this movie. The title is catchy, but I most definitely DO NOT recommend it to any one. The preview does NOT show what the movie is really about, it's a lie. I hated it!! My suggestion is, can amazon afford some professional movie critics to release only really good, well selected and high rated movies to rate the productions prior to charging for it?? Whats happening is that I am becoming afraid of paying for movie rentals at amazon, because its not the first time it happened to me. I've rented some absurdly bad movies at amazon before and I do not intend to commit the same mistake again. I love amazon, but their movie rentals selection sucks big time. What a waste of time and money!!
