5.0 out of 5 stars More punk than (current stuff pretending to be) punk, 12 May 2008
By Alien radio (Norwich, Norfolk) - See all my reviews
This probably is the limit for my tolerance of guitars, and that's down to the fact these guys know how to make a proper disco punk record and aren't some indie act playing with electronics 'cos that's what the cool kids are doing. they also have some very nice production. It says something about a certain generation who've grown up with political insanity on the global stage and rave based insanity on the dancefloor, Reactor Party most strongly on the post iron curtain world and 72 Virgins on the current religious fundamentalism.

The album opens on what is probably the most silly standard punk style thing on the album I Know Kung Fu, but by Reactor Party you can see the structural and stylistic facets of dance music influencing the track structure and production, such as the distinct seperation of elements at the end of 3d sex show, and the urgent clattering rave stabs at the end of Another. (great track for those of us who are chronically late by a couple of minutes.) Backing up their dance music cred is the name dropping disco blood, but it's probably the weakest track.

the whole album is marked by brilliant insistent funk basslines, a pacey beat, a belief in the primacy of the dancefloor, a rejection of sterilised corporate culture and a sense of humour, and in punk style it's short (ten tracks about 3:30 each)but generally to the point. This is the perfect counterpart to Shy Child's Electronics plus live drums approach as both contain a fair few dancefloor gems.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this record!!!!!!!, 24 April 2007
By Katie Treble (Cornwall) - See all my reviews
Read a couple of great reviews for this in NMe and Obersver Music Monthly and I have to say it is a very cool record. The perfect balance of insanity, melody, dance, punk and indie in an exciting and original way. Every track is wonderful in it's own way and my favourite changes every day. Album of the year for me so far and definitely better than Klaxons!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant, 26 April 2007
I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this band when it came to them releasing their debut album. I've seen them live & they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen. But I was doubtful they could translate that to plastic and produce a 'real' album? Well all I can tell you is that they have succeeded. This is a mind blowing record. From the first track to the last, their is no let up in the pace and energy. And I'm struggling to find a bad track on here, its almost a compilation of hit singles ready to go. The best album of the year so far!
