This is one of the classic albums produced by the CHIC organization (Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers) for other artists. The album features all of the players and singers known from Chic's own albums, as well as those they produced for Sister Sledge, Diana Ross and others. Tony Thompson is there with his trademark drumsound, Nile and Bernard play their funky guitar and bass and original Chic singers Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin, Fonzi Thornton and Michelle Cobbs provide backup vocals.
The album was especially commissioned in 1980 for French singer Sheila (so Miss Ross was never in the picture for this release), who had had some international success the previous year with her disco-style "Singin In The Rain" album. Edwards/Rodgers weren't too sure how to handle this project and neither was Sheila- you can tell she has no clue what she is actually singing about in some cases.
Nevertheless, it is a great album that deserved to be rereleased on CD. It had previously only been released in France and has been very sought after by Chic fans.
So if you are a fan of the Chic sound, you can't go wrong with this album. Though not the best Chic Organization production, it does contain several classic tracks, but it is definitely worth for the full length version of "Spacer" alone which remains one of the best Chic-penned songs ever.
