Biography

Link Wray may never get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but his contribution to the language of rockin' guitar would still be a major one, even if he had never walked into another studio after cutting "Rumble." Quite simply, Link Wray invented the power chord, the major modus operandi of modern rock guitarists. Listen to any of the tracks he recorded between that landmark ... Product Description

* The King of the Wild Guitar rips through a five-decade career-spanning 25 cuts of extreme distortion. Not for the faint hearted.

* This CD replaces our extremely popular, but rather long in the tooth "The Original Rumble" (CDCH 924) which is now deleted. This is the finest all-instrumental Link CD available.

* No vocal filler, just the guitar sound that launched a thousand riffs, and all remastered. It's quite brilliant.

Brilliant album; this is the audio experience of the evolution of guitar music, from 60's precursors of the Shadows to Neil Young grunge.
Every musical influence todays guitarists use is in here.
Barbed Wire is probably the best track; the only down side if you really look is that every track is an instrumental, yet Link has a really good voice, despite the lack of one lung.
Pity about his demise because the Muse would have cause to be worried.
Barbed Wire the album is brilliant too!!

I am learning how to play electric guitar and stumbled into "rumble". It is a very good piece for a beginner, that lend itself to variations, distortion, practice. This album is a very good collection of similar pieces. Pleasant to listen and raw at the same time.

All the best tracks by Link Wray appear on here for me - if you only need the one cd (which is unlikely) this has the lot a great compilation

Link Wray King Of The Wild Guitar 2 Dec. 2010

King Of The Wild Guitar I think is one of the best collections of kick-ass Link Wray rock & roll guitar playing! This whole album is great! This is the be all, end all, of gut-driving,heart-pounding, guitar! Classic Link Wray! If you love Link Wray or never heard of him before, and want to find 'the' album that really defines Link's raw, rock'n roll energy, get this album!
Some track errors. 29 July 2014

This is a great compilation, but there's some errors that I found in the track listing. Tracks 4, 5, and 6 are wrong. There's no Run Chicken Run. Instead of tracks 4.Black Widow, 5.Run Chicken Run, and 6.Deuces Wild it's actually; 4.Deuces Wild, 5. Black Widow, and 6.Mustang(again?). I don't know how they managed to screw that up, or if I'm wrong here, but its annoying. However I do recommend this cd. I got this cd for "Apache" which is my favorite Link song.
