When a fatal accident kills of the Queen and all the heirs to the throne, drastic measures are taken to find the closest relative of the royal family, to sit on the throne and rule England. Up steps Ralph, an american slouch who isn't the brightest bulb in the house but never the less, he is the closest relative to the queen alive and so this is where the fun starts. Ralph goes through a lot of changes and with a romance story thrown in for the ladies this is a film to sit in on a saturday night with.

Outrageously funny! 5 Jan 2004
Format:DVD
When the British royal family (yes, every one of them!) is wiped out in a tragic photography accident, the hunt is on for an heir to the throne. Unfortunately for Britain, when one is found it turns out to be Ralph Jones (played by John Goodman), an American lounge singer from far over the wrong side of the tracks. As Lord Percival Graves (John Hurt) schemes to dethrone Ralph I, Fredrick Willingham (Peter O'Toole) works feverishly to keep Jones' feet on the straight and narrow. [Color, created in 1991, with a running time of 1 hour, 36 minutes.]

As you can tell from the summary above, this is not a movie to be taken seriously! It is outrageously funny, being both outrageous and funny. The downside is that there is one scene where Ralph goes to a strip club, and several women are seen in less than family-oriented clothing (there's a joke in there somewhere). So, if you have young children, like me, then you will need to hit stop, and fast-forward past the offending scene, as it is too long to simply cue through.

That said, though, for adult viewing, this is a great movie! It has a wonderful, heart-warming message, and is funny without much swearing or any violence. I highly recommend this movie.

(THE FILM)
This heart warming comedy, starring John Goodman as the unlikeliest king ever....

A freak accident kills off the whole Royal Family and a new heir must be found. The last person anyone expects it to be is lounge singer Ralph Jones who goes from one disaster to another as he reluctantly becomes King Ralph....
WHAT CAN I SAY?
Let the GOODTIMES roll, in this FIT FOR A KING, 1991 noble slapstick humorous film starring Roseanne's, John Goodman playing one his funniest role , Ralph Jones the new King to England's throne.like the Rolling Stone !!
WE ALSO HAVE Willingham PLAYED BY THE (Peter O'toole ) his part is so well-done and loosely-serious role of his private secretary, instructs Ralph on his etiquette skills and his demeanor as the new king he must be taught about his responsibilities !!!
But the question is,
can Ralph wear the heavy crown with its splendour and live up to all his responsibilities
as "head of the common wealth?
and defender of the faith?
can he Learn England's customs and word terminology?
can he Learn sacrifice his "true love ?
or will King Ralph purposely embarrass the United Kingdom with his vibrant personality and lifestyle.?
THIS FILM HAS A Superb Supporting Cast .John Hurt.Joely Richardson.Camille Coduri.Richard Griffiths.Leslie Phillips.Julian Glover
This film is so family friendly ..
nothing crude and from recollection, no bad language.
The filming locations of the film is truly beautiful backdrop to the production,
steeped strongly in tradition and British heritage
this light-hearted comedy that dares to poke at some of the more serious issues of royal responsibility and pressure.
(King Ralph) is non-stop guffaws Royally Amusing and belly-roars of laughter ..
I CAN ONLY DECLARE AND MAKE IT KNOWN THAT THIS FILM IS

((((A Comedy of Majestic Proportions))))
