The core game inside this package is identical to that found in the cheaper retail edition, so go with that and save some do$h in the process :)
Now, onto the game. Visually, King Kong - The Game is an impressive experience. As has been heavily mentioned on the ads for it, the key "hook" is that you get to play as both man AND Kong himself - in effecively parts 1 and 2 of the story.
As a result of this, you need to define 2 sets of controls. One for Jack (your character) and the other the the great ape. Confusing at first, but generally speaking the gameplay in each section is similar - so you won't have any/many problems.
I was fortunate to experience this game on a near-top-end Dell PC, complete with 7800 nvidia gfx card. You certainly don't _need_ this kind of specification to play the game, but having been wowed by the rain, the crashing sea scenes etc. this game is certainly a good one to choose if you want to put your ninja PC through it's paces!
There have been media reports of areas of the game being way too dark on the xbox 360 version - but I'm happy to report that I have yet to experience any such difficulties on the PC incarnation. Desktop Computers 1, Next-gen Consoles 0 (xbox 360, o.g.) ;-)
I could go on, but from an audio/visual angle this game is WELL worth the money. However, to ensure that you follow the strict story of the movie, you'll find yourself frustrated at how obviously linear the game is. This is a shame, but (I suspect) somewhat inevitable for a film tie-in product.
I have yet to reach the end, but needless to say I await the ascent of the Empire State with interest!!! Worth a look. John Mounsey, January 2006.
