This is such a good album, i can not believe it has nt been pushed by the record company. If you like good, fun 80s rock then you will love this superb album. It was the sound track to last summer. The performance is incredible and its great to hear Johny Rod again. The drumming is just top notch and the singing is outa this world. I would say every track is getting you ready to party and in this day and age we need some fun, dont we? Buy this and enjoy.....

AN INSTANT CLASSIC: hard rock brilliance to say the least 3 May 2011
By Nikiforos V. Skoumas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
American hard rock/glam metal supergroup "King Kobra" have returned with an album that reaches incredible artistic height. Experienced fans of the genre would probably know that the record label behind this release ("Frontiers Records") would make sure that the album is of high quality; so yes you do get tons of hard rocking guitar riffs, twin guitar melodies, thunderous drumming and large choruses and though most fans would be content with all that (including myself),"King Kobra" completely overshadow the technical aspect mentioned previously simply because the delivered above all an album with a PERSONALITY of its own.

All performances are great, still they seem like a minor detail when considering that the band have managed to artistically express themselves to the maximum; The evidence supporting this point of view is that every song on the album has its own essence, hence delivering an entirely different atmosphere that affects directly the mood of the listener. "Rock this house" is the frenetic opening rocker, "Turn up the good times" is the dizzy, groovy rollercoaster, "Live forever" is the melodic/relaxing rocker, "This is how we roll" delivers the intensity of a live performance, "Tear down the walls" is the absolute devastating protest song, "Midnight woman" is the sexual side of "King Kobra" while the powerful/melodic "Top of the world" holds the very essence of social accomplishment. And the list indeed goes on! You can rely on the fact that the material sounds as classic as the above titles suggest.

"King Kobra" have returned in their original line up (except one)featuring ever-present leader and drum legend Carmine Appice (ex-Ozzy, ex "Blue Murder") lead guitarists David Henzerling ("Big Cock",ex-"Keel") and Mick Sweda ("Bullet Boys"), bassist Johnny Rod(ex-"W.A.S.P.") and new entry tremendous hard rock singer Paul Shortino (ex-"Rough Cutt" ex-"Quiet Riot") who literally puts on the performance of his life. I always felt that the man had one of the most powerful and expressive voices on the planet yet I have been waiting for that landmark album from him and sure enough he delivered today with "King Kobra".

I can honestly say that I have not connected with an album so strongly in 2011 as with this self titled "King Kobra" album. This self titled album is supported by no promo videos, not even cover artwork, nor an album title-but it is unmistakably a revelation! If you are a fan of "King Kobra" you have probably already ordered this; for hard rock enthusiast that are new to the band I would recommend it to absolutely anyone particularly if you are looking for a new album that sounds like late-80s "Whitesnake".
Not the King Kobra you might remember, but still rockin' 23 July 2011
By Justin Gaines - Published on Amazon.com
What a long and winding road melodic rock band King Kobra has taken since their 1985 debut. Lineup changes, label changes and changes in musical style have taken their toll on the band, which has been largely absent for the better part of the last two decades. Now band leader Carmine Appice has reunited the original King Kobra lineup - with one noticeable exception - for the band's first new album in a decade. With original vocalist Mark (now Marcie) Free fronting the reunited Unruly Child, the microphone was passed to former Rough Cutt singer Paul Shortino for this self-titled album.

It becomes obvious as soon as opening single "Rock This House" kicks in that this isn't the King Kobra many of us are used to hearing. It's not the polished hair metal of Ready to Strike or even the commercially-accessible AOR of Thrill of A Lifetime. King Kobra in 2011 sounds more like you'd expect a veteran gang of rockers to sound like at this point in their careers - a little worn, rough around the edges, but in full command of their talents and songwriting skills. It's got that instant "classic rock" vibe, similar to what you'd hear from Y&T, Great White or Whitesnake. There are a couple of songs ("Turn Up the Good Times" and "Live Forever") that bring to mind older King Kobra, but for the most part the band is in full-on barroom rock mode, and for the most part it really works. Paul Shortino has a fantastic voice for this kind of rough n' ready, bluesy rock, and he really belts out these straightforward odes to hard rocking and fast women.

If you're expecting a return to the old school King Kobra sound, chances are you're going to be a bit let down by this album, at least in the beginning. Give it a chance and judge it on its own merits though, and you may be surprised at how fast the album grows on you. It's just a good, solid melodic rock n' roll album, and you can't have too many of those!
