Who would have thought, after a highly successful run with the NEOGEO console (in the US & Japan) and dominating the arcade scene (in the US & Japan again), being Capcom's main competetion, keeping nintendo & sega on their toes, a bankruptcy, two mergers and two name changes later SNK are back!!! This time they have set their sights on the European market with the help of Ignition.
Many Europeans would not be to fimiliar with the king of fighters series, however most will be fimilar with the term SNK through Capcom vs SNK series. Yes SNK are the creators of the King of fighters series. The King of fighters series has a rich history and a cult like following. It is simply one the best 2d fighting franchise ever created (along with street fighter).
The size of the roster is amazing, each character has his or her own unique skills. The music is great and fits the the fighting mood. The background though a bit stale is sufficient enough to be deemed OK. The endings are great. As far as playability goes, though a bit rough at times is good and has amples of playability time.
Overall this a execellent port from the neogeo and cosidering the price tag its a bargain. However I must stress this game is purely for the old school fan, or for people who have deep appreciation for the old classic 2d fighters. New fans may want to purchase this game simply to fimiliarise themselves with SNK and king of fighters before its up and coming new 3D transition (King of Fighters Maximum impact) hits the stores in February.

If like me your all about the old skool 2d fighting games then think of KOF 00/01 as a great big thank you gift for your continued support.
Back in the early 90s the japanese company SNK began to move away from shooting and action games and began throwing out fighting games -- good ones! The king of fighters series has been going strong for many years and ranks along side such greats as street fighter as one of the great fighting game series's of all time.
With two great games with hours of fun, hardcore fighting action, at this price you can't loose!
