Product Description

Product Description

Peter Stringfellow is the most famous nightclub owner in the world, proprietor of "Stringfellow's" in London's West End and many more. His life story is not only a classic rags-to-riches tale but one which documents the rise and fall of every musical trend since popular music began. He was born to the sound of falling German bombs in 1940 and built his dreams out of the rubble of the Sheffield blitz. He has survived two divorces, the New York mafia and bankruptcy, and this biography is peppered with anecdotes about the rich and famous. Forthright and humorous, it recounts how a steelworker's son ended up with his name in lights on both sides of the Atlantic.

It has been 2 weeks since I ordered King of Clubs, and I haven't seen daylight since. King of Clubs has caused me to be late for work, late for diner, and late for my girlfriend. The String fellow rise to fame and success is exciting, creative, but most of all a great laugh. As a fan of the Stringfellow chain of clubs, this only enhances my appreciation, for a man who has had the commitment and courage to reach the pinnacle of success. Peter Stringfellow can walk head high knowing that he has achieved one the world's most honourable titles, 'A self-made Success'. Fiona Lafferty has captured the charm and wit of Peter, so well that you find yourself listing to the text, rather than reading it. This autobiography is not only a slice of life, but also an inspiration to all of us.

A suprising page turner of a book. Stringfellow comes over very sympathetically and not at all as one would imagine.

Yes he is a shagger of the first degree, but he's also big hearted.

A couple of big suprises to be found in the book that I won't reveal.

I agree with the critique given by Mr Russell Horton of Cardiff. I received the book as a gift after gaining a place at university, as somebody thought that it would be useful for my degree. At times such as these, one feels as though they must read the piece-it was a present after all. I must say in all honesty that the revelations contained within the book are quite astounding- I cannot believe that one man could get into so many scrapes!! This is a book about a man who has built himself up from a working class background and has done something productive. He should be applauded for his work. This piece of work has shown me the REAL side of showbiz, and I want a part of it!! Long live 'The King of Clubs!'
