Product Description

Product Description

1191. During excavation work at Glastonbury Abbey, an ancient leaden cross is discovered buried several feet below the ground. Inscribed on it are the words: Hic iacet sepultus inclitus rex arturius ...Here lies buried the renowned King Arthur. Beneath the cross are skeletal remains. Could this really be the legendary King Arthur and his queen, Guinevere? As the monks debate the implications of this extraordinary discovery, the bones disappear - spirited away by the mysterious Guardians, determined to keep King Arthur's remains safe until the legend is fulfilled and he returns to protect his country in in the hour of its greatest need. A missing right hand. A gang of ruthless bodysnatchers. Brother accused of killing brother. As the secret of the bones' hiding place is passed from generation to generation, those entrusted to safeguard the king's remains must withstand treachery, theft, blackmail and murder in order to keep the legend intact.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 8 Oct 2009

Was looking forward to reading this book but was very disappointed. Weak first chapter, second much better but seesawed after that. Some chapters needed more time to develope the plot line. Discouraged me from buying others by this group of authors. A precis/soundbite of story would be useful before purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars #5, The Best Thus Far, 3 Sep 2009

I will not offer up a synopsis, but suffice it to say it was a most enjoyable read especially those portions written by Bernard Knight and Michael Jecks who can always be counted on for excellence in writing and weaving a tale. The other authors involved in this work are good too, but I have my preferences.

4.0 out of 5 stars King Arthur's Bones, 12 Jul 2009
This is the 5th book in the Medieval Murderers series and, because I tend to read each of the authors individually anyway, I have enjoyed each of the composite books.

King Arthur's Bones is probably my favourite, charting the movement of the king's bones around Wales throughout the years. Some of the characters seem to be more finely-drawn than usual, which is probably why this is my favourite. Well worth a read!
