Gameplay
Kinect Joy Ride reinvents driving and kart racing by adding massive jumps and full-body stunts to the classic kart racing action. With a host of cool features and game modes you can find your inner thrill seeker by going solo, pick up a co-pilot, or team up with your friends and family to take on the world.

Kinect Joy Ride takes the thrilling driving experience off the track and into your living room as you bend, twist and move your body to hug the curves, jump through obstacles and show off your acrobatic skills — when you get your whole body into it, you are the car!

Key Game Features

  • No steering wheel or controller required. Feel the wind in your hair, show off your high-flying stunts and tricks, or blast and smash through a destruction arena. Lean to drift, and use your hands to fire rockets. Flip, twist or spin your car in the air with full-body motion and chain tricks together for even better scores..
  • Variety is the spice of life. Stunning landscapes provide the backdrop for unique driving adventures in three far-flung worlds with sixteen hyperactive courses and a multitude of environments that are exciting to everyone from amateurs to the most skilled. Each of the ten unique cars comes with unique customization packages giving you more options to build your dream racing machine.
  • Racing action meets friendly competition. When the road gets lonely, Kinect Joy Ride is the perfect collaborative experience for friends and family. With racing competition or cooperative play in the same living room, or head-to-head competitive play for up to eight players on Xbox LIVE, getting into the game is now easier than ever. Whether playing alone or with friends, a handful of unique competitive modes keep the gameplay fresh, fun and challenging. Unlock new tracks, modes, cars and customization packages. If you’ve got what it takes, you can earn Achievements, Avatar rewards, in-game trophies and medallions, and even roaring fans. Share photos with friends of your most spectacular tricks in the Kinect Hub.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Bought for my nephew for his 10th birthday.

He is pretty progressive and plays star wars, and halo and things like that so i was a bit hesitant about this but he loves it.

He enjoys doing the in air tricks and thrashing his mates too.

Money well spent :0))

this game is great and it makes it so much more fun that you actually use your body to play the game instead of using the controller

5.0 out of 5 stars Kinect Joy Ride 4 Dec 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Good, fun, family game. The recorded playback of stunts is very funny and like other Kinect games is excellent family entertainment. I haven't unlocked all the features yet but I expect the grandchildren soon will!

Kinect games, I believe, are better suited to multi-player and for solo play I revert to standard video game formats such as Halo, Mass Effect and Bioshock (I do not play Xbox Live). If you already have a Wii I don't believe this game will provide much more in the way of entertainment over similar Nintendo games of this genre, but for the Xbox 360 it's a worthy addition.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun game but not much variety 8 Jan 2013

Bought this for my 5.5 year old son who has really enjoyed it and beats me on many of the games. The game is fun and generally responds well to kinect input as long as you remember not to cross your arms over while steering. It also helps you out a lot when you go wrong without being too obtrusive - even the essentially random movement of my two year old daughter was enough to guide the car around the track reasonably quickly. There is some variety offered by the different modes but all the cars seem to behave in essentially the same way regardless of physical characteristics; it would add more variety if these had different performance.

4.0 out of 5 stars lots of fun 4 July 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Whether you're playing solo or with a friend in the room or online the game has lots of fun to give. Although it can get a tad repetitive its easy to play by just steering your hands and thrusting your arms.

I've enjoyed this game thoroughly, as have my friends and family. The game reacts well to the kinect and is simple to guide yourself through.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok 29 Sep 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
It's ok with 6+ kids. Kinect works well, even when high adults and low kids are in the scene.
You'll have to repeatedly correct kids not to cross arms (trying to turn more), but to lean to where they want to turn.
Otherwise the rewarding scheme (earned fans) and getting access to new tracks just by completing old ones is not very challenging.
