Darin and Mercer combine terrifically on this wonderful CD. Right from the opening duet you cannot help but realise that these two masters of their respective arts are having a great time.
The combination of Mercer, best know as a song writer but proving that has a subtle aptitude for delivery, and Darin, the super crooner, makes for a CD that is far more than the presentation of a set of Mercers songs. While listening I could not escape the feeling that I had stumbled into a bar where a couple of friends, with sublime musical talent, were singing away at a piano. The selection of songs, not the most famous of their time, reflects this feeling of friendship and fun. Their presentation proves that the title could not be more apt; Mercer and Darin are 'Two of a Kind'.

I had this recording on vinyl for many years but lost to to a loan! Eventually replaced it with the CD. It is astonishing that Darin had only been in the business 4 years(making him around 26-27) when he and Mercer did this and his sheer talent seems that he'd been around as long as Mercer. Mercer is probably my favourite song writer and Darin is probably my favourite entertainer. There is pure joy and genuine humour in this recording. I wonder what the outtakes were like... Any fan of Darin should have this, then, as I did, get themselves into Johnny Mercer.

from different generations, Bobby Darin and Johnny Mercer are fine vocal stylists who perform superbly together with top quality support from Billy May & His Orchestra.
A mixture of standards and songs that were new to me,there isn't a bad track on this album. From the title track, the pre 'Bring Me Sunshine' Morecambe & Wise theme song 'Two Of A Kind', 'Ace In the Hole', 'Bob White', 'Mississippi Mud', the album swings from beginning to end.
