Renowned artist and instructor Jayne Persico, unlocks the mysteries behind the creation of 3-dimensional art glass bracelets. Jayne is the originator of the specialised techniques and tools for this unique kiln forming process and now readers will benefit from her experience as she reveals her secrets using action photographs and easy-to-understand instructions. Jayne's first book "Innovative Adornments" offered an introduction to fused glass and wire jewellery techniques and this new book builds on the strength of that foundation. This 80-page book offers 13 chapters covering tools, sizing, preparation, bracelet forming, adjustments, embossing, cane fabrication, pattern bar making, plus much more. You will find tips and expert advice scattered throughout the book to clarify specific concepts that will help the reader achieve the best results. These bracelets are beautiful and intriguing and they offer glass fusers and jewellery-makers a delightful way to expand their skills and amaze their clients and friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Buyer be - VERY - ware, 5 Nov 2006
I have previously written a lengthy review of this book, pointing out good points and not so good. I gave a lot of information for people considering buying the book, which I wish I had known before purchasing.

I thought these points were fair, but I must have broken the rules somewhere along the line, because the review has not been posted.

Therefore, all I will say now is this: The book is full of detail, comprehensive instructions and superb illustrations of beautiful kiln-formed glass bracelets, twisted glass bracelets, (which take two people to make), and glass watch straps. These are without doubt inspiring and make one eager to try the techniques.

What the prospective buyer of this book should be aware of, I feel, is that most of the equipment needed to make the bracelets, including a very specific type of glass kiln, and formers for the bracelets, is only available from the US - marketed by the author who pioneered the techniques. Even to try the most basic of the bracelets would involve additional expense of approximately $500 to purchase the equipment needed, (not counting any other the tools the average hobby glass worker might have in their studio, or the purchase of any glass).

If one wanted to try further techniques such as embossing, or patterns which involve cutting with a diamond band saw, this could rise to a much higher figure, and does not include the considerable cost of shipping the equipment from the US.

Yes, the book itself is inspiring, if a little slim for the price, but it is very frustrating to purchase a book full of beautiful jewellery, only to find, basically, that you will be out of luck and very much out of pocket if you don't live in the US. It would have been helpful and more fair to prospective buyers if the synopsis could have indicated this in some way.
