Product Description

Half Ojibway Indian, half French Canadian, the Blackbird is a professional: one shot, one kill. So when trigger-happy Richie Nix hijacks the Blackbird's Cadillac and takes him for a ride to extort $10,000 from an estate agent, it's unfortunate that a veteran ironworker and his smart wife get in their way. One of the Blackbird's rules is never to leave living witnesses...

‘A genuine sense of the dangerous edge of things which induces frenzied page-turning’ Observer.

Leonard's writing is so immediate, his prose so clean and snappy, he grabs your attention from the first page and doesn't let go until the last. I loved this book in particular with the contrast between the two main characters - one the typically cool assassin, the other a typically dumb redneck criminal. It was great. Probably the greatest compliment I could pay to Mr. Leonard, and the greatest recommendation I can give, is that he cured my fear of flying. I had to take flights every few weeks last year and each time I'd just open up an Elmore Leonard novel and I'd become so engrossed in the story that (no kidding!) I would actually forget my fear as the plane took off and carried me up into the sky. It takes great writing to have that kind of an effect... BUY THIS BOOK and every other ELMORE LEONARD novel you can find!

Elmore Leonard is a great writer, and this is a great story. The contrast between the Blackbird and the ex-con Richie Nix is very obvious and appealing, and the climax near the end of the story between Carmen and the Blackbird is something I'll probably never be able to forget.
A top book

Masterful 7 Oct 2003
Format:Paperback
Killshot is a masterfully told tale of a botched heist and a subsequent obsession with clearing up the mess that leads to disaster. Wonderfully written, Leonard's complex characters come to life from the word go.
