Worth 6 stars!!, 14 Jan 2012
This review is from: Killing Hope (Gabe Quinn Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
My first ever review...
Have you ever read a novel that is so good, you do not want it to end, but at the same time want to rush through to know what happens? Well, this is one of those books. Upon reading it you can add me to the list of readers who felt it was amazing!! The worst part about this book is it hasn't got a sequel. Would love to see more of Gabe in future.

Refreshingly brilliant, 11 Jan 2012
This review is from: Killing Hope (Gabe Quinn Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
This book made a considerably positive impression on me, for two main reasons:
1. The way that the story develops. The plot has a completely authentic feel (helped by consistently accurate attention to technical details, suggesting that the author has definitely done his homework regarding police, forensic, and trial procedure), yet it is also somehow dream-like and spellbinding, so that you are sucked in and held in a vice on a journey that you cannot escape from (not that you would want to, or can).
2. The way that Houghton uses language. The author's writing has a tone that is standoffish, existential even; sparse, but consistently packing a punch, and replete with superb allusions and similes that could give Raymond Chandler a run for his money. One example that stood out, from among myriads: "She was tall. Rake thin, with shiny black hair down to a waspish waist. Skin as pale as a Scandinavian med student attending her first autopsy. Tight black clothing. And silver piercings in a Tim Burton face".
A totally absorbing and refreshingly brilliant book.

Wow!!, 22 Dec 2011
This review is from: Killing Hope (Gabe Quinn Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
This is the first book I've read by Keith Houghton and it certainly won't be the last. After reading the other reviews I can only reiterate what they've already said. Killing Hope is a fast-paced serial thriller that has your attention from the very first chapter. Extremely well written, it has a very short, sharp style that packs a lot of punch. Some great characters - move over James Bond, Gabe is my new hero!! And an ending that you'll never guess!!
I strongly urge you to download this. You will not be disappointed.
