This film was panned unmercifully by most of the critics - all I can say is that it wasn't as bad as they made out. And it's sad that that's about as strong as the praise gets.
We all know the basic plot. An assassin working for a shadowy government agency gets tired of his job and wants a normal life. He settles down in a nice home with a nice girl, and all goes well for a while. Then his former bosses get in touch with him, because nobody in his line is really retired....
So it goes here, and then the twists start. If you ignore the plot-holes and unlikeliness of some of the key developments then it's actually quite entertaining. The lead actors are adequate without being impressive (it's left to Tom Selleck to provide the gravitas, which tells you something). The action moves along briskly. The resolution is as satisfactory as could be hoped for. It's not a great film, but it's not a bad one. It'll help pass a wet afternoon.
