Three girls join a sorority house. Amidst the initiation ceremonies, hazings and the partying someone or something is killing the freshers.

Opening with two false starts and a pop video for White Sister's "you're no fool", Killer Party is an entertaining mix of campus shenanigans, sorority house slasher and supernatural possession , plus a big dollop of Scooby Doo. The practical jokes are way too elaborate for anyone to carry off in the real world and the killer can't be who it eventually turns out to be,but somehow it all makes sense.
Sherry Willis Birch, who's only other credit is Final Exam, makes for a quirky unexpected final girl and director, William "Funeral Home" Fruet packs his film with a lot of charm and some genuine style. The scenes with the killer, clad in an antique diving suite, are nicely handled and the possession scenes are also well done. There's sterling support from Paul Bartel, amongst others, and the theme tune "these are the days of our life" is again memorable

Killer Party was trimmed of gore when it was released in 1986 and the Warner Brothers Archive DVD is that version. The picture quality is really good . Sadly there are no extras, but it is region free.

Terrible 'slasher' movie that is more concerned with soriority rituals and playing like a second fiddle Porky's movie than delivering on its promise. Killer Party is a filler movie, 60 mins of pranks and jokes that hit the wall. All of the kills are cut away, there is no gore, there is no suspension and all the characters are cardboard cut out. As a fan of horror movies and slashers I found myself looking at the countdown clock wishing the movie would end. If you want good slasher/horror movies that take place in a soriority just watch Night of the Creeps, The House on Soriority Row and Slumber Party Massacre- that's how it should be done.

Killer Party isn't even an 80s movie anyway, it was almost entirely shot in 1978 and then sat on the shelfs and was finally released in 86. It is a slow pedestrian movie nothing of worthwhile happens. True the beginning of the movie is clever with two false beginnngs and the final 10 minutes tries everything to be a failed Exorcist rip off, but that can't save a movie that for 90% of its running time grinds like a ripped tyre on dirtroad.

There are rumours that all of the gore was taken out, but even if this is true this still wouldn't warrant any value to the movie. Killer Party is largely forgotten and it is easy to see why. Oh and to put the icing on the cake the picture on the back of the DVD gives the ending away- Bravo Warners! Fans of 80s music will most probably like the soundtrack.
