3.0 out of 5 stars A horror Satire 21 Dec 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Small time USA is invaded by a reality TV show's film crew. A celebrity shows up then very soon people begin disappearing and dying.
This is a send up of reality shows and slasher movies but it is very well done and the real gem is in the giallo aspect used in that we don't know who the killer is until the end and then the film ends with a twist.
It's a fun film with a high body count. Dialogue is reasonably good with a few nods to other slasher films and the acting isn't bad with a few smiles to be had. I didn't like the fact that some of the kills are off screen with gore seen afterwards. I suppose the film makers wanted this to appeal to a wider PC audience hence the toned down slashiness.
Extras include a 13 min behind the scenes, and stills. USA Release plays Region 1. Subtitles in English stated on the box but there weren't any.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but could have been better 30 May 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
That said, the movie does have a fair bit going for it. Not least is that every time you think you know who the killer is, the real one promptly kills them. I was absolutely certain I knew who it was only for the guy to have his throat cut less than a minute after I'd definitely made my mind up it was him.

There is an attractive cast of good actors like the likeable Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) playing an obnoxious actress, who I'm sure wasn't remotely based on L*nds*y L*h*n, who isn't as horrible as she first appears. Nestor Carbonell is great as a cynical agent and Paul Wesley of the Vampire Diaries is good as the lead. The rest of the supporting cast is fun as well particularly the actress who plays the utterly vile and predatory lesbian producer.

Much of the gore tends to be offscreen like the Cheerleader coach's encounter with a rotary saw (just when I decided she was the killer) or the beheading early on (when I'd decided that this character would probably be the Final Girl). Then there are more explicit bits like the throat slitting (see above) and hand amputation, so it isn't all bad. Plus there is a very high body count so that even at almost the very end you still just don't know who the damn killer is.

But I didn't find it very suspenseful and never remotely adrenalin-inducing. In fact it's oddly likeable for a serial killer movie and it is certainly surprising. Give it a try and it may surprise you.

Let's say the rating is three and a half stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars KILLER MOVIE DVD 2008 29 July 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I decided to get this mainly due to Paul Wesley being in it as I really like him as an actor he didn't disappoint and the rest of the cast did a great job too! It's hard to really sum up this film but I will give it a try!So it's a small town hockey team that's what it's supposed to be what the crew are there for but the woman in charge wants a more exciting story after a young girl dies under strange circumstances! Also a famous actress is flown in to help her career & prove she can really act?more deaths happen & they're not accidents so who's killing these people? It's not a deep heavy thriller but is entertaining all the same,I enjoyed it!It also has extra's cast interviews etc.Take note it's a region 1 so needs a multi region player or you can watch on a pc it also has a digital copy so enjoy!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Kill my acting coach....(major spoilers) 17 Jan 2014
A reality television shoot goes awry when its crew finds itself stranded in a remote Northern town.

A killer is on the loose, stalking cast and crew members one by one.

As past suspicions, betrayals and secrets inexplicably come into play, the nightmare of shooting this reality show becomes all too real for Jake, the show's director, his crew and Hollywood starlet Blanca Champion.....

So it's basically Scream for the big brother generation, with the one from The Big Bang Theory who decidedly ugly, playing a big star who everyone lusts after.

One of the crew is a little bit strange, Scooby Doo strange, and once you see him, you think to yourself 'the makers couldn't be that stupid to make him the killer'.

Guess what, they are, and then some...

None of the cast are likable, the editing and narrative are awful, and the last five minutes of the film literally has more shots of the sidekick dog than anyone else.

The final reveal features the killer wearing some eye make up, and even the makers get fed up by the end and just have shot in a maundering way.

It's even depressing to write about it, I wouldn't bother, even if you had nothing to do, sitting and staring the abyss would be a better choice than seeing this excremental excuse for a film...

3.0 out of 5 stars Average killer movie 6 Feb 2009
By Francine - Published on
It looks like other reviewers here are probably involved with the film. I am not; I just watched it. This movie is the average slasher fare with a reality show spin on it. Even though the storyline is not so original, I still found the movie likeable all the way to the end. It has the cheesiness but doesn't look cheap, some humor, decent kill scenes, and good music scores. Slasher movie fans would particularly find this film entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and scary 23 Dec 2008

I saw Killer Movie in a film festival a couple of months ago. It was so funny at times, and really creepy at others. The acting was great, and the characters were so interesting and multifaceted. The dialogue was witty and fresh, and Kaley Cuoco's one-liners had me laughing out loud. But even with all the humor, you never forget that you're watching a horror movie. The gory details are horrifying and the murders creative and original. I won't spoil anything, but it'll leave you thinking, "I never would have thought to kill someone like that." You really have to see for yourself. I strongly recommend this movie for any horror or comedy fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slaughter-TV... 5 May 2010
By Bindy Sue FrÝnkŁnschtein - Published on
KILLER MOVIE is the silly, creepy, gory tale of documentary film-making gone horribly awry. We follow a film crew as they work on a doc about a small town's high school hockey team. Of course, there's a masked maniac at large, and people begin dying awful, squishy deaths. Said maniac is an interesting fellow, w/ his own unique take on reality TV. KM has gallons of blood and several dismemberments, yet manages to remain fun and interesting. The characters are solid, especially Kaley Cuoco (tv'S BIG BANG THEORY) as a total wench of an actress who gets a much needed attitude tune up by movie's end! So, if you enjoy comedic horror w/ extra sauce, KILLER MOVIE should slake that thirst...

5.0 out of 5 stars Killer Movie is Awesome 11 Nov 2009
By K. Futrell - Published on
If you want a good suspensful horror movie then look no further than Killer Movie. This movie will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the very last scene. This is a different type of horror movie as it is about a group of people making a documentary/reality tv show and things go really wrong in the process. This is a movie within a movie so thats pretty different than most movies today. There is some gore in the movie but it's not overly done which I like. There are also some funny parts in the movie so you get horror and comedy in the same movie. This movie has a great cast as well including Kaley Cuoco (8 Simple Rules and The Big Bang Theory), Jason London, Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries), JC Chasez (he makes a cameo), and so many more people.

If you are looking for a different movie then look no further than Killer Movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite acceptable for an evening in 31 Dec 2010
By Blue Hermit - Published on
Although billed as a slasher movie satire I didn't seen any satire while watching it. This aside, it's actually not a bad movie. I enjoyed watching what turned out to be a well-played tale about small-town murder involving the hapless members of a reality TV crew and their accompanying Z-list hopefuls.

Despite the routine scenario and, with one or two exceptions, a cast made up of actors who aren't particularly well-known, they all produced entertaining work from an only average script. Although Leighton Meester has done quite a lot of film work, the best known name in the cast is probably Kaley Cuoco, who maybe took this on as a useful addition to her résumé. What other admirers of Kaley's characters in 8 Simple Rules and The Big Bang Theory make of her portrayal in this movie of an unpleasant, somewhat desperate wannabe, struggling on the fringes of recognition in the acting business, isn't for me to say, but I think she's made a professional job of it. On the strength of this movie I'd like to see what she does with a much bigger budget thriller.

Recommended with beer and pizza. Quite acceptable for an evening in.
